Holidays come with big expectations, but spending the Holidays solo comes with authenticity. When you’re spending them alone, you have more freedom, less pressure, and you create and set the tone of how you want to spend the day. Being alone also helps you truly understand who you are and what you enjoy.
Below are a few ways to redefine holiday tradition solo:
1. Pick your Own Traditions: Relax and enjoy being alone the morning of the holiday. Make a good brunch for yourself, soak in Epsom salt, get dolled up, and don’t overwork yourself.
2. Decorate How you Want: Keep it simple, by just adding colors of the holiday, or go all out to include decor in your bedroom and/living room.
3. Create an Atmosphere just for you: Play music you enjoy, wear pajamas all day, build gingerbread houses, light candles, etc.
4. Make your own Holiday Photoshoot: Holiday pajamas or a cute outfit, set up a festive space in your home, take pictures you’ll look back on.
5. Food, your Rules: Cook or order exactly what you want for the holiday. The menu doesn’t have to be traditional, so make it what you enjoy. Then, kickback and watch a good movie while eating dinner.
A solo holiday doesn’t make the holiday any less of what it is. When you make the day about your own traditions, it becomes more personal, peaceful, and something meaningful that is yours. Just because you’re alone, doesn’t mean you have to feel alone.
