Upcoming Movies to Watch Out For This Halloween!

Fall has finally arrived! Leaves are falling, nights are getting longer, and there is a chill in the air. Halloween is right around the corner, and so are a ton of new movies that fit perfectly with the season. Whether you are looking for a mystery thriller movie, an intense horror film, or something different that fits the fall vibe, there is something for everyone with these recently released or soon-to-be-released movies! 

One movie that has been so anticipated this year is HIM, famously produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw production company. Actors such as Julia Fox and Tyriq Withers will be starring in this brand new psychological horror movie, which will be released on September 19. It follows the story of a young and aspiring football player by the name of Cameron Cade, who wants to be the star quarterback of the San Antonio Saviors. Luckily, he gets an invitation to go and practice with the Saviors’ longtime quarterback, Isaiah White. While this all seems great, the isolated training compound that Cameron is at begins to become more and more strange, and he suddenly begins experiencing unexplainable hallucinations as well as uncovering what intense sacrifices he will have to make to achieve what he has always dreamed about. Is it worth it in the end, or will he regret it forever? This movie is so different from the traditional slasher films we constantly see, combining the sport of football and horror together. If you are a fan of both of these things, this movie is perfect for you! Even if you aren’t, it’s definitely a new take on horror movies, and something new to try out. 

The next movie is the mysterious and eerie horror film by Osgood Perkins. The film seems to follow this couple who decide to go stay in a secluded, woodsy area in a cabin as an anniversary getaway. The trailer begins with the POV of a character named “Liz” who goes through some dialogue questioning who she is with. It shows different clips of her being alone in this cabin, her seeing and hearing strange things. Then, it switches to another POV of a character named “Malcolm”. Strangely, it goes through the same dialogue as the first POV, but shows different, strange, and horrifying clips. The trailer leaves you with more questions than answers, but it gives all the more reason to watch it. It makes you want to find out more about what is really going on, almost as if it is leaving you on a cliffhanger. If you are interested in a mystery horror type of movie, I would highly recommend this one!

Another chilling movie that has many horror fans excited this Halloween season is Black Phone 2, directed by Scott Derrickson, as well as presented by Blumhouse and Universal. This horror movie is being released on October 17. This film is a sequel to the first, with “The Grabber” (Ethan Hawke),  being back and worse than ever before. It follows our original characters Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), who had originally escaped The Grabber in the first movie, or so they thought. When Gwen suddenly begins having concerning visions and calls from the black phone, they decide that it’s finally time to confront the monster behind this all, traveling to Alpine camp seeking closure. With plenty of new jump scares and mysteries throughout the movie, just like the last highly rated “Black Phone”, it is sure to be a hit this Halloween. This movie is highly anticipated by so many movie-goers, and it is one that you should definitely check out if you are ready to get in the Halloween spirit!

The last movie on this list is Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro and produced by Bluegrass Films, releasing on October 17. The original Frankenstein movie is such an iconic movie that changed the movie industry, and now a new spin on the movie is here, by an award-winning horror enthusiast director. It follows most of the same ideas of Frankenstein, with gothic elements and even more intense scenes. Famous actors such as Jacob Elordi playing the monster and Mia Goth playing Claire Frankenstein, along with many others, are included in this film. The set for the film already looks incredible from the bits and pieces we have seen, and it is sure to be an outstanding and terrifying movie that people will continue to watch every Halloween season. 
There are so many other movies that are set to release this Halloween season, such as Shelby Oaks and Good Boy, along with many others.
