Fall Break in New England

This fall break, I went back home with my best friend, Alyssa. The main point of the trip was to visit Salem, Massachusetts. Alyssa had wanted to come last year, but it didn’t work out. Last year, we made a contract that she would come this year, no matter what. It worked out, and she came this year, and we had an amazing time.

On Friday, we made the seven-hour ride to my hometown. She was exhausted after a long day, and the first hour of our trip was a bit rough. However, we stopped to get some caffeine and turned up the music in order to keep ourselves awake. We arrived at my house a bit after 11 p.m. and were greeted by my parents and dog. After chatting a bit, we went to bed and got some much-needed rest.

The next day, I woke up pretty early and got ready for the day. We had quite a few things we wanted to get done. We went to get some pumpkins, then we went to visit my little brother at his job. He works at an apple orchard, and so we enjoyed apple cider, donuts, and a scone. I also had the chance to show Alyssa where I attended high school.

After that, we made our way out of Connecticut to go to Rhode Island. Alyssa had wanted to try food from Raisin’ Canes as she had never had it before. Before that, we surprised my MeMe (grandma) with a visit. I contemplated calling her to let her know we would be stopping by, but I decided not to call her. She was overjoyed that we took the time out of our day to see her. She also kept thanking Alyssa for driving me to see her.

On Sunday morning, I got woken up by my mom and the smell of cinnamon rolls. Sunday was the day we were going to Salem. Alyssa, my mom, and I got into the car and made our way there. After a bit of driving around, we found parking for only $2. We walked around and took a bunch of photos. We also explored the Peabody Essex Museum a bit. After that, it started to drizzle, so we decided to take the trolley tour around Salem. After we got off, we took more pictures and ate some very overpriced food. We shopped a little bit and then headed home.

Once at home, I finished my weekend homework and watched part of the Kansas City Chiefs game. On Monday, we had a pretty bad rainstorm, so we decided to stay in most of the day and just relax. We did, however, go to get lunch at Taco Bell and ice cream from one of my favorite places.

Overall, it was an amazing trip. I had a great time even though it was a bit tiring. I would definitely go back to Salem again but probably not during the Halloween season.
