Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (don’t panic, deep breaths) here are some ideas that you can do with your significant other! Or if you’re the type that hates seeing all those people in love (don’t worry, I’ve got you covered), here are some ideas that you can do for Galentine or Bro-lentine…? Or if you just want a self care day, you can take one of these ideas and do them with your favorite plushie or furry friend that won’t run away on you. Personally, I’d suggest the djungelskog from Ikea – they make a nice, quiet companion.

  1. This year, we’re very lucky to have Valentine’s Day fall on a Friday, which makes it a perfect day to go out to a restaurant or simply have drinks. But if you are someone that hates super crowded places (no judgement, I feel you too) then you could meet up at either your significant other/bestie’s place or your own to chef something up in the kitchen. I wouldn’t suggest inviting your furry friend to this, because they don’t have the same sanitary standards as we do and might eat up everything before anything is done.
  1. Do something the both of you like to do. For myself, I love to ice skate and know there are really cute skating places around Boston, like Frog Pond.
  1. For those who have long distance relationships – don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about you – you two can still do things together, believe it or not! For example,
    1. cooking or making drinks together over facetime.
    2. Play a video game that you both like or create a craft together, like clay sculptures or paint each other’s portraits.
    3. Another idea that can be done on any day of the week is to exercise together or watch a film together on one of those screen sharing apps – Discord works for me personally.
  1. For those who have been together or besties with your girlies for one plus years – first of all, I congratulate you. Here are some ideas for Valentine’s Day!
    1. First date rewind and play back the memories to that exciting (or anxious) day. Or rewind the day you two first met.
    2. Go through photos together, another way to walk down memory lane.
    3. For my long-distance soldiers, you could send gift packages to each other filled with whatever of your desires. Personally, I love receiving random trinkets and polaroid pictures of adventures we’ve had together.

Hope you got inspired and it gives you some ideas of what to do on Valentine’s day :)

Hi! My name is Hannah Kosciuszko. I'm the new Social Media Director for this Fall 2024 :) I have a Social Anthropology major with a Cinema Studies minor. I am a Senior and will be graduating this May 2025. I joined HC to meet new people, be part of something bigger than myself, and thought HC was the perfect place to do so! Fun Fact about me: I have a soft spot for nostalgic things, especially things from the 80s — like my polaroid camera, cassettes, films from 80s.
