There is no doubt that women’s readership is on the rise following the new wave of literary feminism. Women’s Fiction is currently the crown jewel of the publishing industry. This beast of a genre has sunk its teeth into its readers, and novels written by women about the female experience are in high demand. Niche tropes have been sprouting up within the broader genre, such as that of the ‘unhinged woman’ inspired by novels like Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar with intricate, partially unstable, female leads. Already in 2025, we have been gifted some sneak peeks at upcoming literary powerhouses with complex themes of motherhood, exploration of sexuality, romance, and found identity. Here’s a comprehensive list of all the stunning debuts and newest releases from fan-favorite female authors to add to your 2025 calendar.

1. good girl – Aria Aber

January 14th

After spending her rebellious teen years disappointing her Afghan refugee parents, Nila, an aspiring nineteen-year old artist, finds a home in Berlin’s artistic nightlife. There she meets Marlowe, a used-to-be famous American writer who expands her world of artistic opportunity and freedom. Nila finds herself further enveloped by Marlowe’s influence as racial tensions begin to heighten in Germany and within her own city.

2. Blob: A love story – Maggie su

Have you ever wished that you could turn a sentient blob into your dream boyfriend? Vi Liu, daughter to a Taiwanese couple, has always struggled to fit in at her Midwestern college. Both her decision to drop out and concurrent breakup lead her to a front desk job at a hotel where she meets Rachel. Her life takes a sudden, odd turn when she accompanies Rachel to a local drag show, discovers a sludgy blob in the adjacent alleyway, and decides to take it home.

5. Deep Cuts – Holly Brickley

Percy Marks can’t stop herself from overanalyzing the song playing in the campus bar and relaying all her opinions to the guy next to her. Joe Morrow, a musician himself, is mesmerized. They join forces to critique and improve Morrow’s music, but over time the lines between profession, person, and passion become too blurred. Now unsure where to find her own voice, Percy’s need to be heard cannot be ignored.

6. Say You’ll Remember Me – Abby Jimenez

Abby Jimenez, well-known for her sweet and steamy medical-field romances, is coming out with another cozy novel following Xavier and Samantha. What happens when the perfect guy, who happens to be a very handsome veterinarian, says the wrong thing at the wrong time? After one long, extraordinary date, Samantha’s pride forces her to demand Xavier to forget about her altogether. Unless, that is, he’s willing to admit that he was wrong.

7. Great Big Beautiful Life – Emily Henry

April 22nd

Emily Henry is widely known for her romances revolving around writers and the publishing industry, and her newest novel is no different. Great Big Beautiful Life follows Alice Scott, an aspiring writer, and Hayden Anderson, a Pulitzer-prize winner, as they are both given the opportunity to interview and write a story on the elusive Margaret Ives. A burning competitiveness and an undeniable connection fuels the two as they try to piece together a fragmented story from a fallen heiress who isn’t all too willing to share.

8. Favorite Daughter – Morgan Dick

April 29th

Half-sisters Mickey and Arlo share the same dad, but they have never met. While their dad was present in Arlo’s life, he left Mickey and her mom for his other family. After his death, Mickey is shocked to find that she has been left his entire fortune. The only condition? Mickey must attend multiple therapy sessions with a specific psychologist. And that psychologist is Arlo.

9. The Names – Florence Knapp

May 6th

Cora gave birth to her baby boy at home during a heavy storm aided by her husband Gordon, the local doctor. Gordon, controlling and intimidating, demanded for the baby to be named after himself. Skies now cleared, Cora takes her new baby with her to register his birth. But, when the registrar asks her for the baby’s name, she is presented with a choice. This debut novel follows three different timelines where the name of a newborn may just change everything.

10. Sleep – Honor Jones

As she is rediscovering herself as a single co-parent, she must also uncover the hidden truths of her ten-year-old self. Beneath the glamour of her childhood freedom, uncomfortable family dynamics, untold secrets, and the destruction of her girlhood all lie dormant and untouched.

11. The Bombshell – Darrow Farr

May 27th

In Darrow Farr’s striking debut novel, seventeen-year old Severine Guimard, daughter of a wealthy politician, knows she is meant for something greater. She will kill time before graduation by smoking, daydreaming of fame, and seducing boys. That was her plan, at least, until she becomes a pawn in a political kidnapping scheme and is held for ransom. 12. Atmosphere – Taylor Jenkins Reed

Taylor Jenkins Reed steps away from the Hollywood scene of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo with her latest novel Atmosphere. When she has free time, you'll find her immersed in a good book, watching cheesy romance shows, working on a puzzle, or spending time with the people she loves. She's especially passionate about writing bad poetry and cooking good meals. More often than not you'll find her in a library.
