Congratulation texts are soon to be ringing in as I wrap up my last leg of college! Since 2020, I’ve been anticipating and dreaming what my college graduation would be like and how I’d make not only my family, but myself proud in what I have accomplished. In the last 5 years, I’ve been going through a mix of emotions throughout my journey. Joy, fear, anxiety, sad, nervous, anger and hope. At last, I’ve made it to the finish line with my last four classes for senior year. Here’s how I’m getting ready for my last college classes and what I’m anticipating to do for my graduation!
My classes for Spring semester are my Social Media & E-Marketing minor classes and my senior capstone class (Digital Marketing, Social Media, Marketing Analytics and senior campaign). Three on campus and one online. I’m excited to have my last classes on-campus for my senior year. When I started my freshman year in 2020, my classes were online and I wasn’t able to interact as much with my peers as I would have wanted to. I appreciate the little interactions I’ve had with people I’ve meet on-campus and the friendships that have formed though in-person classes. My backpack prep is usually based on my classes description. Most of the time I pack my laptop, a binder with college rule paper, pens and highlighters, index cards, a calculator, one folder, a book to read after class, and my feminine hygiene pouch. As a safety precaution, I also threw in a little pepper spray!
I’m still looking through the options of photographers for my senior photos. My main goal is to take most of my pictures around campus, especially with FIU’s panther statue. I was thinking of having two outfits. Outfit #1 is a blue and gold FIU sweater paired with a white pleated skirt with skin-toned stockings, white frilly socks and gold heels. My second outfit I’m thinking about either a Caribbean blue or gold satin dress with gold and blue stoned accessories. For my grad cap I have two options; a Hello kitty theme, or a fun message that relates to my major (Public Relations Advertising and Applied communications).
All in all, I’m blessed to have experienced college as a first generation college graduate! It has taught me so many lessons that I will take with me as I close this chapter and open a bigger chapter in life. After graduation, I plan to either take a year off and travel then go into my master’s degree or go straight into my master’s degree. I’m hoping to get into Washington State University to do my MBA in Marketing. It’s a lot of planning and goals, but in due time I can achieve it.
To my fellow seniors gradating in Spring, don’t give up! We’ve made it this far and we’re so close. Hang in there, and I’ll see you at graduation 🥳!
