Although maintaining a green thumb may seem difficult, it can be quite attainable in just a few steps. There are several different kinds of plants, but they all require some tender care sometimes. This guide is for indoor plants; outdoor plants have their own needs.
Repotting
As soon as you get your new plant you should re-pot the plant. This means having an accurate-sized pot for your plant, you can always have a bigger pot for a smaller plant. However, you have to use potting soil to pack your plant into the pot. When you re-plant you should also detangle some of the roots if needed. This can range from what type of plant you have.
Watering
Watering your plants can be very vital to your plant’s health. You should at least water your plants once a week. This can vary depending if you have cacti or succulents but you should try to water your plants when you can, being careful to not overwater. Using natural fertilizers like coffee grounds can help with the health of your plants as well. You can soak your plants in a coffee ground water mixture, made from the leftovers of your morning coffee.
Lighting
You should always have some type of lighting for your plants and their nutrients. Natural lighting from a window is the best for indoor plants. There are other plant lights that you can purchase but I have found that natural light is the best for the photosynthesis of your plants.
Decor
Many people use plants as decor for their household. Some of the best places to have your plants are on high shelves, especially if you have pets. Other places are window sills and bookshelves, hanging plants with macrame or other hangers, the possibilities are endless. However, make sure they are in an accurate place for lighting purposes. You can also have different types of pots that vary in color or shape. Have fun decorating with your plants!
