Staying connected with hometown friends and family members can be challenging in college. As a freshman, I have already learned that it is hard to keep those close friendships and relationships from your hometown. Texting, calling and social media are always good ways to stay connected and involved in each other lives even from a distance. Here are some more fun ways that my friends and I stay in touch:
- Locket
Locket is an app that I use with my hometown best friends. On the app, you add a widget to your home screen which shows live photos that your friends have taken. You can add up to 20 friends on the app and you share pictures back and forth with one person or a group. You are able to react to each other’s photos with emojis and send comments. From the widget on your home screen, you can see the new photo that your friend sent and by tapping on it you react and respond back. At the end of each month, there is a recap video with all the pics together. It is a fun and different way to share memories right on your home screen. This is one of my favorites!
- Lapse
Lapse is another picture app to share with friends. It is like a social media app but has a unique twist. Lapse has a disposable camera feature used to take photos. When you open the app, it looks like a disposable camera right on your phone! Once the photos are developed with the film aesthetic look, which everyone loves, you can share your pics with your followers. You can create a fun profile and connect with your friends. You can scroll and see what your besties are up to. You can also react and respond to each other’s!
I always love to see what my friends are up to when they are at school. I am interested in and enjoy looking at pictures to see what they are up to from a distance. You can also add your college friends to stay connected during the summer! Snapchat can become boring, so try these apps to mix it up!
