Morning Breath

You don’t judge me for my morning breath

You kiss me and tell me I’m beautiful regardless

Our bodies laying side-by-side

Your hands, holding mine

And all at once I promise you

This is more than enough

People assume the worst

But you and I both know all of my favorite parts are innocent

I sit and listen to you talk and ramble

And sometimes you look over at me

And there is this look in your eyes

It’s my favorite look

I look up at you, wide-eyed and dreamy

I hope that you know all the words that I leave unsaid

I love feeling like I’m on top of the world but

I love that you make me feel safe and grounded

I love that you don’t stop me from going on adventures

Instead, you follow me into the woods

Ready to catch me at any moment

I tell you that I’m far from perfect and you tell me that art is subjective

I’m a sappy, romantic, goofball

But you love me anyway

And I love you, all the same
