Some days it’s best to change your setting when you study, or just get work done. It can be hard to find a quiet, nice space that is secluded but easy to access on campus. I went around campus to check out each building to tell you some of my personal favorite spots to spend the day. Below, in no particular order, check out my top five study spots on the University of Connecticut’s Storrs campus!
1. ite BUILDING
The ITE Building (Information Technology Education Building) is the center of campus on Fairfield way, right around everything you need. This is a perfect spot if you are planning to eat or snack during your study session. The ITE building has two microwaves on the second floor with tons of options for seating, from couches to regular seating with tons of open-concept windows for natural light to shine in. Personally, this is my all-time favorite building.
2. Homer babbidge BOOTHS
Right near ITE Building is the Homer Babbidge Library. The library has more than six floors with tons of options to sit and relax. There are private study rooms but the Babbidge Booths are personal singular booths, almost like the red telephone booths you see in London. It is a nice private area with vision blockers and outlets. The Babbidge Booths are available on each floor of the library.
3. Bookworms cafe
Inside Homer Babbidge Library, a coffee shop called “Bookworm’s café” is located on the main floor. It is a great spot to grab breakfast and a coffee break while supporting a local café as well. There are also phone booth-style study areas with outlets for you to study in.
4. Gant
This may not be a well-known study spot but on the second floor of Gant, there are spacious rooms with whiteboards that are typically available and very quiet. It’s a good place if you want to do a study session with one friend but still want a quiet collaborative space.
5. bio physics building
Last but not least is one of my favorites, the biology physics building! I came across this building by attending the Her Campus meetings! There are a lot of lounging around areas to sit and relax and do your work with also desks with tables if you want an “office” style study area this is the best place to go.
The best way to find new study spots is just exploring different parts of campus. I have only been on the Storrs campus for only one semester and there are so many more buildings to explore for my next two years. Have fun exploring and studying!
