I’m the type of girl to buy book after book, knowing full well that they are going to sit on my shelf untouched for months. Something about going to the bookstore is just so exhilarating. My to-be-read list definitely grows faster than I’m reading. Now unfortunately, I do sometimes pick up a book that is just so excruciating that I have to abandon it, which I think is where I’m at right now with my current reading. I won’t name drop that one, I actually know a lot of people who’ve read it and loved it, but here are the books I’m most looking forward to reading this spring:

The Spare- Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex

I’m sure you’re all familiar with this title by now. Clips from the audio book have been all over my Tiktok and I’m very intrigued, to say the least. I binged the Megan & Harry documentary over winter break and have been on a bit of a royal kick ever since. I requested to borrow the eBook from my library and the wait time was over a hundred days, but I’m hoping it speeds up soon!

Happy Place- Emily Henry

I am such an Emily Henry girl. I read all three of her previous books over the summer (Beach Read was my fav) and I can’t wait for this one to drop in late April! A broken up couple still pretending to be together for their friends? I’m interested to see how this story will end.

A Court of Thorns and Roses– Sarah J. Maas

I know I’m WAY behind with this one. Booktok has been raving about it for years and I think I’m finally ready to give it a read. I usually read stand-alone novels, but do love a good series. I’ve found that sometimes Booktok recommendations are a little overhyped, so I hope this one stands up to the test.

When We Were Birds- Ayanna Lloyd Banwo

Not to judge a book by its cover… but I saw this book at my local bookstore and the cover is stunning. I love a good love story and this seems to be just that. It’s set in Trinidad and Tobago and follows two young people connected by loss. There’s a little bit of magical realism going on here, which is great for readers who aren’t so familiar with the fantasy genre.

I love to hear other people’s opinions about the books they’ve read. I definitely take that into account when choosing what I want to read, but at the end of the day, we all have different tastes. Just because I didn’t like a book doesn’t mean it can’t be your favorite! I think that’s part of what’s so great about reading, we each get something different out of the same stories.

Samantha Cavallo is in her third year as a writer for Her Campus. She enjoys writing about anything and everything, though her pieces often focus on celebrities and pop culture or mental health and wellbeing. Sam is currently a junior at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, and she is from Langhorne, Pennsylvania. After earning her Bachelor's degree, she plans to pursue a PhD in School Psychology. Beyond Her Campus, she is involved in many organizations on campus that focus on supporting the campus community, such as the Wellness Ambassadors, where she works in Health Promotions to promote the Nine Dimensions of Wellness, and the Student Support Foundation, operating the campus food pantry and providing emergency grants to students, faculty, and staff in need. In her free time, Sam enjoys reading, going to Barre class, finding new things to do in and around the Orlando area, especially if there is rumored to be good food, and Facetiming her dog Dexter. She is a major fan of both Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers (she even got it tattooed to prove it) and loves going to concerts, and of course dressing up for them.
