How to build a capsule jewelry collection

One of the ways I like to enhance my day-to-day style is through jewelry. It’s something that can be so simple and yet can enhance one’s natural features.

I’m always searching for timeless and elegant pieces that can be styled in various ways. If you’ve ever created a capsule wardrobe for your clothes, you know how convenient and easy it is to find an outfit for every occasion. The same concept can also be applied to curating your jewelry collection because an outfit is only complete with a little bit of sparkle.

As we know, jewelry can be quite expensive, especially when looking for good-quality pieces. So I will be sharing my capsule jewelry collection that won’t break the bank and that I’ve loved for years!

Choose a Metal

The first step when curating your collection is to choose your base metal: gold, silver or rose gold. I find that sticking to one metal is perfect for each piece to complement the other.

My jewelry collection consists mainly of gold pieces, as I find I’m always drawn to gold. However, this is a personal choice, and you’ll be able to find incredible pieces regardless of which metal you choose.

Finding a Staple Earring

Once you find what metal you like the best, the most important piece of jewelry, for me, is an earring. Personally, I cannot leave my house without a little pair of gold hoops.

Fun fact, depending on your face shape, earrings can help accentuate cheekbones adding softness to your face. Since I have a round face shape, I’ve noticed that simple hoops add the extra softness that I desire.

If you have multiple piercings, like me, then styling those is also important. I love wearing little pearl earrings along with my gold hoops to add a different shape and texture.

Another pair of earrings I’ve been loving recently is the dainty happy face earring from a Toronto-based jewelry company Lisa Golzan.

Bracelets that you can layer

When deciding on the best bracelets for your collections, consider ones that will be easy to wear daily. I noticed that thicker bracelets made with heavier materials become uncomfortable for me to wear, and I often end up taking them off and reaching for something simple. I try looking for dainty bracelets that I can layer or wear on their own. On a daily basis, I wear two delicate bracelets, one silver and one gold.

Here are some of the bracelets I’ve been loving recently:

Mejuri Lotus Bracelet

Ana Luisa Gold Chain Bracelet

Stackable Rings

Rings are one of my favourite jewelry pieces, as I don’t need a mirror to look down and see the sparkle!

There are endless ring options, but I always like to keep comfort in mind and what would go with my day-to-day outfits. I’ve always loved a simple gold ring that is enough to be an everyday piece. Also, it’s important that I buy stackable rings so that if I ever want to dress up my collection, I have the perfect base to do so.

Some of my favourites include:

Mujuri Charlotte Bold Ring

Monica Vinader Disco Ring

Symbolic Necklaces

When it comes to picking out a necklace, I’ve always been attracted to necklaces that hold a significant meaning in my life. Whether that be an initial necklace, a zodiac sign necklace, or even angel numbers! I always think it’s a nice touch for your jewelry to hold some significant meaning, and I’ve always showcased that through my necklaces.

A necklace I have been loving is:

Mejuri Letter Pendant

The most important thing to remember when creating your capsule jewelry collection is that it’s an expression of you. Use your jewelry to show off your personality. Have fun with it, and don’t forget to layer!
