Everything You Need to Know Before Watching “Daisy Jones & The Six”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New School chapter.

The cast of Daisy Jones & The Six has taken over TikTok with all the behind-the-scenes content, sneak peeks of upcoming songs, and interview clips. Maybe all of this publicity has sparked your interest or maybe you’re as equally in love with Sam Claflin as I am and are excited to see him. Fear no more! Here’s a play-by-play of everything you need to know before you binge the series.

Daisy Jones & The Six is based on the novel written by Taylor Jenkins Reid who also wrote popular novels, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Malibu Rising. It is set in the 1970s and follows the rock band “The Six.” Daisy Jones comes in to sing on their single “Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)” and fans love the grit of her voice, prompting her to join the band as well. Readers get a glimpse of the roots of the band and Daisy’s origins all the way to the demise of the band in a faux-interview format.

The episodes in the limited series are being released in batches; the first three episodes are being released Saturday, March 3rd, each benign nearly an hour long. There are ten episodes being released in total, only available on Amazon Prime Video.

Riley Keough plays the titular Daisy Jones. Keough also stars in The Guilty and Mad Max: Fury Road. She is also the granddaughter of Elvis, the king of rock and roll. Who knows? Maybe it’s in the Presley genes to always be connected to rock after all.  Suki Waterhouse plays Karen Sirko or “Karen Karen.” She is most well-known for her singing career, having released her new EP “Milk Teeth” in late 2022. She is also the long-time girlfriend of the Batman, Robert Pattinson. I’m very excited to see Waterhouse’s cool-girl persona mesh with Karen. The book to screen adaption king, Sam Claflin plays rockstar, Billy Dunne. Claflin has most famously starred as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games movies as well Me Before You and my personal favorite, Love, Rosie. Argentinian-American actress and model, Camila Morrone stars as Camila Dunne. This is Morrone’s first big project.

Whether you have read the book or not (which I very strongly recommend), this series is bound to be interesting.
