Podcasts have become increasingly popular lately. From lifestyle, business, to crime podcasts (and shows like Only Murders in the Building being based on crime podcasts), the phenomena is insane. Now, there is an endless amount of different shows to tune into with different categories and everything.
As a girl in college, here are five essential podcasts (in no specific order) to listen to while you’re studying, walking around campus, or even working out in the gym.
- Anything Goes by Emma Chamberlain
When Emma dove into the world of podcasting, she originally had a different show called Stupid Genius, but she decided to rebrand and move forward with Anything Goes. The rebrand was the best thing she could have done because it gave her the freedom to talk about–you guessed it–literally anything.
Topics like friendships, depression, and being a 20 something are some of her most notable episodes. These are the episodes you might hear a snippet of on TikTok. Of course, sometimes she covers more random topics. Let’s be real, we all think of random silly questions every now and then.
- Introverts Talk Too by Kiersten Hawkins
As much as we all wish the college experience was like the movies with parties everyday and big friend groups to keep you occupied, it’s not like that for everyone. Kiersten allows her vulnerability to shine through as she shares her personal experiences in college. ITT allows all the introverted people who don’t feel seen to finally know they’re not alone.
It’s comforting to hear someone else relate to the fact that college experiences don’t happen the same for everyone. Hawkins’ makes herself so relatable that just like Anything Goes, it feels like you’re having a personal conversation with her.
- Call Her Daddy by Alex Cooper
Now, some people have their opinions on this show, but it’s worth a listen. There are a few reasons to listen to this podcast. If you’re interested in pop culture, this is a great show for that. Most of us have Instagram or TikTok and know about celebrity tea–well Alex interviews celebrities and asks the questions we all want answered.
Aside from the fun celebrity guests, Alex sometimes does solo episodes, and she is known for being sexually liberated which can be refreshing in a world of trying to navigate the transition from highschool to college in terms of relationships and sex. On the other hand, she takes the time to get serious as well. Alex is not one to shy away from a political conversation or other heavy hitting topics which is refreshing in a world of filters.
- The Skinny Confidential Him & Her by Lauryn Evarts and Michael Basstick
Looking for a podcast that covers pop culture, fitness, wellness and beauty? Well then, you came to the right podcast. This dynamic couple are so entertaining to listen to. All their experience and accomplishments help them share advice and insight to the topics that make up our daily lives.
If you need help keeping up with current trends, this couple keeps you up to date. This podcast is definitely worth the listen.
- Fun Girl Podcast by Jasmine Allen
This new podcast is one you don’t wanna miss. Mental health, college, and relationships are some of the topics that have been covered so far on the show. Nevertheless, there is more to come with this podcast ranging from pop culture to more serious topics like homelessness.
At the heart of this podcast, is a girl experiencing her 20’s in an unconventional way. Even bigger than that, is a girl who had a pretty tough life and felt that she could never be fun. Now, she’s learning that “fun” doesn’t have to look like that stereotypical way it’s defined to be.
*Conclusion*
Whether you’re looking for some new podcasts to listen to or thinking about getting into them in general, these five are a good place to start as a college student. With the episodes ranging from 20 minutes to an hour there is enough girl talk to last you awhile.
