So, you want to buy roses this year for that special someone and feel a little unsure about which to get. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, there are a lot of different colors. Each carries a specific meaning, so let’s go over them to make sure you give what you mean!

Red Roses

A classic color. If you are looking to get red roses, you are communicating ROMANCE! A bright red rose says love and admiration, whereas a burgundy rose communicates devotion. These flowers carry significant meaning and are typically used as the signature flower for Valentine’s Day.

Yellow Roses

For those looking to get their bestie something sweet for Valentine’s Day, say hello to yellow roses! These are a symbol of friendship and are a great way to show appreciation to that friend who’s been there for you. But as Reader’s Digest suggests, some claim this color means jealousy so try and steer clear of these in a romantic relationship.

Pink Roses

Pink roses come in a variety of shades and each one has a specific meaning. Light pink roses symbolize appreciation and innocence. These roses are an excellent gift for a family member. The next shade, medium pink, can vary in meaning. From grieving to congratulations, you should avoid this color to stay away from confusion and miscommunication. Deep pink roses symbolize gratitude, a great color for someone you are thankful for this Valentine’s Day.

White Roses

If you’ve entered into a new relationship, white roses are a great choice. These symbolize new love and innocence. No wonder they are the flowers traditionally used for weddings! White roses are a sweet gesture for a new relationship or marriage.
