The cast for the movie based on the bestselling novel, “It Ends With Us” was released last week, and fans of the book are not happy with the decisions.

Colleen Hoover’s bestselling romance novel, It Ends With Us, is being adapted by Wayfarer Studios and SONY into a film. The movie is currently in development, and the cast for the long-awaited film was announced via Hoover’s social media a week ago.

Hoover’s novel is about a young woman, Lily Bloom. Her story is set between two timelines, one of which she meets surgeon Ryle, and the other in which the story of her past is unfolded, describing her first love, Atlas, and other aspects of her childhood. The novel explores Lily’s life, relationships with these men, and the conflicts she must overcome in her past and present life.

Starring in the movie as Lily will be none other than Blake Lively, and co-starring as Ryle will be Justin Baldoni. As brilliant and talented as these actors are, fans had a lot to say about this announcement. First, in the novel, the characters are only in their early twenties, so fans fear that Hoover has cast actors that are too old to play these parts. Fans were also disappointed, because they had made it clear through social media that they wanted actor Theo James to play the role of Ryle.

Regardless of how most fans feel about this casting, others are excited and have faith that Lively and Baldoni will do the novel justice. In the early stages of development for the film, Baldoni and Hoover even made an announcement, asking for fans of the novel who live in the LA area to come and help them develop the script, to make the movie as authentic to the novel as possible.

Personally, I am a huge fan of Lively and Baldoni, having grown up watching Gossip Girl, and Jane the Virgin, and am beyond excited to see this book that I love so much become a motion-picture.
