As we know, TikTok has a tendency of making certain beauty products popular. They sell out in stores, and everyone goes into a mad panic about how they can get their hands on the next “it item”. Lip balms, liners, and glosses, in my opinion, have become extra popular this year, so let’s get into the best ones of the year!
Lip Balms
If you’re looking for a lip balm or a lip mask to help with the dry lips that come along with winter weather, you’re going to want to look for products with shea butter, ceramides, or petrolatum. The shea butter and ceramides will moisturize, while petrolatum will lock in moisture when layered overtop!
belif Aqua Bomb Overnight Lip Mask
Sold at Sephora, this “overnight” lip mask is incredible… and beats the Laneige lip sleeping mask in my controversial opinion. Although pricey at $25, it lasts a long time and moisturizes better than anything I’ve ever used (and I’ve used almost every popular lip balm on the market).
Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25
Also sold at Sephora, this SPF lip balm checks all the boxes as it has extremely moisturizing ingredients! It comes in different flavours, I personally love the mint one, but the grapefruit is a close second. Formulated with petroleum, beeswax, and cocoa seed butter, this is guaranteed to be moisturizing.
Lip Liners
Whether you’re looking to enhance your natural lip shape, or like to overline, here are some options that are raved about on social media.
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner, shade Pillow Talk Medium
Although I am a fan of the original Pillow Talk liner, the medium shade sold at Sephora is a beautiful, slightly darker shade of pink. It works well for more pigmented natural lip colors, or if you just want a bolder lip! At $30 this is definitely a more expensive option, but well worth it in my opinion!
NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner, Whipped Caviar
Retailing on Amazon for $7.99, this is a much more affordable option, that is honestly just as great. This long-wear lip liner is a gorgeous pinky nude, and looks great on many skin tones. You can also purchase it directly from the NYX website, as linked here!

Lip glosses are my favourite part of my makeup routine, and I think I’ve nailed down the best ones that I’ve found this year.
Tower 28 Beauty ShineOn Lip Jelly Non-Sticky Gloss
This gloss has an amazing shine factor while still feeling moisturizing enough, and the pigment… incredible. Another plus, the price point is much more reasonable compared to other popular glosses. At $19, this gloss has a lot to offer. My personal favourite shade is Sesame, but Pistachio is a close second.
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm
This lip balm/gloss combo is to die for. I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s so buttery smooth, and moisturizing, yet still so shiny and pigmented. Once again, at $23, it’s still a bit pricey but more affordable than many others! My favourite shade is Nearly Mauve, or Nearly Berry if I want a darker lip!
