5 Spots To Check Out During DC Restaurant Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Howard chapter.

The first few weeks of the New Year are always the best. Everyone is motivated by their resolutions, the semester starts anew, and most importantly, it’s Winter Restaurant Week! The magical week of discounted menus from all your local favorites, this year’s restaurant week in DC falls from January 16 to January 22. If you’re a college student like me, this is the perfect time to get a great meal for an even greater price. Here are five restaurants I suggest you check out during this year’s Winter Restaurant Week!

Mi Vida – Mexican (14th St neighborhood)

With two locations at the Wharf and 14th Street, Mi Vida is the go-to place for good Mexican food. Their restaurant week menu includes $25 lunch or $40 dinner, which includes a family-style 3-course meal! Drinks are ordered separately, but make sure to check out their variety of tequilas or my favorite, the ‘De La Casa’ margarita.

Dolce Vita – Mediterranean (Logan Circle)

Highlighting the cuisines of Italy, Morocco, Spain and Greece, this upscale Mediterranean restaurant is perfect for a date night or girls night out. For restaurant week, they offer two dinner menus, ranging from $40-$55, and a $25 brunch all with one paired cocktail. The price is worth it for all that you get!

Dovetail – American (Logan Circle)

A good choice for either brunch or dinner, this New American-style restaurant has a taste that can’t be beat! Offering a $25 brunch or a $55 dinner, Dovetail’s three-course price is worth every penny. The hushpuppies are a must try, but you can’t go wrong with any order.

Lulu’s Wine Garden – Wine Bar (U St)

Perfect for a sunny day or an intimate night, Lulu’s is a casual wine garden with three outdoor patios and great vibes. Similar to Dolce Vita, they’re offering a $25 brunch or $40-55 dinner paired with wine or a cocktail.  Definitely one of my top spots for a night out with friends.

Chaplin’s – Japanese (Shaw)

My go-to spot for good ramen, Chaplin’s is the perfect place to get through these cold winter days. They are offering both $25 brunch and $40 dinner, but brunch is just ramen with mimosas. But for $20 more you can pair both your starter and entree with a cocktail and wine. Not the strongest drinks in my opinion, but I’m just here for the ramen.
