Looking For Loafers? Sam Edelman Has All The Winter Shoes You Need

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Loafers. Sling backs. Ballet flats. Boots.

For months, I tried on all different styles of Doc Martens in search of the perfect pair of oxford-style shoes (1461s, anyone?). While I like the brand, there were two things I couldn’t get past: the yellow stitching and the fact that Doc Martens doesn’t carry half sizes. For whatever reason, Doc Martens are either too clunky or too tight on me.

Luckily, Sam Edelman saved the day with its classic leather and meticulous packaging. I discovered a new world filled with all my favorite “dark-academia” style shoes. In honor of my newfound obsession with the brand, I’ve compiled a list of all the Sam Edelman shoes you need to snag, now.

1. the Monna

The Monna was one of the most-anticipated items on my Christmas list this year, and I’m pleased to say that they did not disappoint. A bit of a cross between loafers and oxfords, these are super comfortable to walk in with a padded sole and a 2.4-inch platform. They didn’t require any breaking in. I’ll be living out my dark academia dreams through these for all of 2023! (Is it just me, or do they remind you of Wednesday Addams?)

2. the Laurs

For a classic pair of chunky loafers with a vintage feel, look no further! The Laurs comes in mocha, chestnut, ivory, and black— giving tons of options for you to mix and match. Everything about these shoes exudes academia, class, and, most importantly, comfort.

3. the Jildie

These. Shoes. Are. Everything. I love the chunky buckle. Wear them with pants, dresses, or tights and a skirt— these classy pumps can go with any outfit! The Jildie comes in navy, cocoa, linen, pink, and black.

4. the Felicia

“Ballet-core” is having a controversial resurgence on TikTok right now, but flats will also be a classic wardrobe staple. The Felicia has an adorable bow and SE charm. Plus, this style comes in every color you could think of— and a bunch of them are on sale!

5. the Lennon

Slip-on chunky loafers? Yes, please. These shoes, a cross between academia and punk, currently come in three colors. Effortlessly cool and different from the typical loafer, I will be adding these to the ever-growing list of shoes I need. Check out the Lennon here!

6. the Loraine

I have these classic loafers in black leather, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. These shoes pair well with jeans, trousers, and linen pants alike, making them wearable in the summer, too. While not as out there as some of the other shoes on this list (though Same Edelman does carry them in a surprising assortment of colors), the Loraine is sophisticated and stylish.

7. the Lydia

Last, but certainly not least, is the Lydia! Sure to be the centerpiece of every outfit, these boots both elongate legs and help protect from the cold. Sam Edelman carries many other boots, too (like the classic Chelsea or the effortlessly cool Orleans) but there’s something so fun about this style.

Happy Shopping!

I’m certain Sam Edelman has at least one of the shoes you’ve been looking for, whether it’s a pair of loafers, boots, or heels. Right now I just have the Monna and the Loraine, but I can’t wait to add to my collection. Both shoes are true to size and super comfortable (with no breaking in required). If you’re looking to spend money from the holidays, look no further!
