Now all these movies on this list are not exactly Christmas movies, but these movies will definitely get you in that snowy time-Christmas time mood. So get the hot chocolate and the Christmas blankets because this list is exactly what you need this season.

“Better watch out” (2016)

What’s better than Christmas? MURDER. Well not actually, but this thriller-horror is a definite watch this season. This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat with all of its twists and turns, and its ending leaves you in utter shock. Also, for all those “Stranger Things” fans out there, Dacre Montgomery has a small role in this film, so if that interests you, you should watch it.

“office christmas party” (2016)

When their branch is on the brink of being closed this winter season, what is their solution? Well, their goal is to throw the best office Christmas party EVER and try to convince an important client to work with them to save the company. Of course, chaos ensues and everything starts to get out of hand, will they be able to fix it all before the night ends, or will the branch close the next day? Honestly, this movie was blast, it was so fun, has a great cast and is full of good laughs. This is such a fun and light watch to watch this season.

“The SHining” (1980)

Nothing is more Christmassy than snow, and trust me there is plenty of snow in this movie. This movie is about a family who moves up to an isolated hotel for the winter, and things start to go south fast when the father starts to get murderous and hunts down his family members. This movie is 100% worth the hype.

“The thing” (1982)

Is this movie even reference Christmas in any way? No, but that shouldn’t stop you from watching it this holiday season. I mean there’s literally snow, so it’s basically Christmas. This movie is about a team of explorers in the artic who encounter a new alien species. This species can kill and then copy any creature, and its plague is traveling quickly through the team. Will the explorers be able to kill the aliens before they’re all infected, or will the aliens succeed in their total takeover? I personally really enjoyed this movie, and it oddly gave me “Jaws” (1975) vibes for some reason, so if you like that movie you’ll probably enjoy this one too.

“Happiest Season” (2020)

Not only does this movie have a delightful cast it also gives a fun and new Christmas storyline we haven’t seen as much. This movie follows Abby and her girlfriend Harper and their trip to Harper’s family’s house for Christmas. Abby wants to ask for Harper’s father’s blessing to ask for Harper to marry her, but she can’t because Harper isn’t out yet. So now Abby has to spend this trip lying about who she is while keeping her relationship secret along with celebrating her first Christmas without her parents. Everything seems to get out of hand and it leaves Abby questioning if Harper is really the right girl. Overall this is a pretty good movie, it has wholesome parts and really shows the value of family and love, definitely recommend.

“Snow buddies” (2008)

Here comes a wave of nostalgia, because who didn’t watch The Buddies’ movies growing up? “Snow Buddies” is about the buddies and their accidental trip to the artic where they help their new snow puppy friend Shasta win a snow dog race. These dogs are some of the cutest things, and the story is pretty interesting when you aren’t distracted by the puppies, so if you like dogs this is a watch.

The family man (2000)

Two words, Nik Cage. This movie is wonderful, I will admit a bit slow, but it is heartwarming. Nic Cage’s character Jack is a hardworking investment broker and after stopping a robbery is given a glimpse of the life he could have had if he stayed with his college girlfriend. Will he find joy in the life of a family man, or will he go back to his ruthless life on Wall Street? Trust me, you’ll want to know.

“Anna and the APocalypse” (2019)

Move over classic Christmas songs, the Anna and the Apocalypse soundtrack is here to steal the show. This movie is about Anna and a group of her classmates trying to survive the zombie apocalypse during the Christmas season. Overall, this movie is visually interesting and has some pretty catchy songs, so I recommend it.

“Go” (1999)

This movie has drugs, guns, and parties, three things that make an awesome Christmas movie. This movie is pretty hard to describe, so if you’re intrested, I would check out the trailer. Overall, this film is such a vibe and had me audibly laughing at some points, it’s just such a good watch and I couldn’t recommend it more. Also, if you enjoy movies with multiple storylines, this is a movie for you, especially because each story is better than the last.

“JIngle all the way” (1996)

When Howard Langston (Arnold Schwarzenegger) forgets to get the toy that his son REALLY wants, he tries to go out and get the present the next day, the problem is IT’S THE TOY OF THE YEAR. Empty shelf after empty shelf we watch this dad go all over Minneapolis trying to get his son the toy of his dreams, the Turbo Man. This movie is crazy, it’s funny, full of action, and is just a great watch. I highly recommend it.
