Who I’d Cast in Biopics of These Hollywood Legends

I absolutely love biopics and cannot get enough of them. After watching Elvis four times in theaters this past summer, I have a craving for more. In the case of Elvis, the casting of Austin Butler was a strange choice for me at first, but after watching it, absolutely no one else could play the role, and I am praying Butler wins the Oscar.

I think more biopics like Elvis and Bohemian Rhapsody need to be made because they introduce the subjects to younger generations who can learn to love these icons. I thought it would be fun to talk about who I would cast in biopics about Hollywood legends so with that being said, here are my picks.

Sydney Sweeney/Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate

After seeing a glimpse of Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate in Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood, I can’t help but think about how great she would be in a full-length biopic. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Robbie even recently stated that she would love to play Sharon again. However, another great option would be Euphoria’s, Sydney Sweeney. She often channels Tate in her fashion and makeup choices, and I think she would be fantastic.

Lily Collins as Audrey Hepburn

I was so excited when I found out that an Audrey Hepburn biopic was being made by Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino. I immediately thought about how Lily Collins would be a perfect choice to play her. But, Rooney Mara was cast instead, which I don’t hate but also don’t love, and everyone on Twitter agreed that Collins should’ve been cast.

Timothée Chalamet as James Dean

Okay, okay, hear me out. I know picturing Timothée Chalamet as James Dean might be difficult, but the two young actors look similar to me. Give Chalamet a change of hairstyle and have him adopt Dean’s accent; I think it could be uncanny. But I also could just be selfishly wishing that Chalamet would play him. There actually has already been a Dean biopic with James Franco as the tragic actor, but I’d love to see a new one.

Zendaya as Eartha Kitt

If there is ever an Eartha Kitt biopic and Zendaya is not cast, immediately throw the whole thing away. I think Zendaya looks just like a modern-day version of the iconic singer and actress, and would love to see her in this role. It was rumored years ago that Zoe Saldana was playing her, but nothing came to fruition, which gives Zendaya the perfect opportunity.

Chace Crawford as Paul Newman

I never realized how much Chace Crawford looked like Paul Newman, and now I can’t stop thinking about how fantastic a biopic would be with this casting. They both have those striking blue eyes and scruffy yet clean-cut appearance, and I think it would be perfect.

Jacob Elordi as Rock Hudson

I think seeing Jacob Elordi as Rock Hudson is another great casting that could be really interesting to see. Both actors tower over their castmates at 6’5” and have the same look to them. I think Elordi is much better suited to play Hudson than he is to play Elvis Presley, as he was just cast as the King of rock and roll in Sofia Coppola’s biopic about his wife, Priscilla Presley.

Harry Styles as Mick Jagger

Let me be clear: I do NOT ever want to see Harry Styles playing Mick Jagger in a biopic because, truly, it would be Styles pretending to be Jagger for the entire movie. However, I think he is the perfect casting choice to play him. So it’s a double-edged sword, but it had to be included.
