Everyone has those weeks where they feel overworked, overwhelmed, and stressed all in one. Those types of weeks where they feel as though the work won’t end, and that there’s simply not enough time in one day to get it all done. Yes, unfortunately this drowning feeling does happen to the best of us, and as college students, sometimes it hits us harder than others. It’s vital however, to prioritize those moments where we indulge in self care in all forms. When I feel like the world keeps moving and I can’t keep up, this is how I de-stress.

  1. Journaling

My number one way to destress, is allowing myself to candidly describe what I am feeling through the form of writing. Not only does journaling allow me to naturally get my emotions out, it also allows me to put those feelings into perspective and release them. I will say that journaling has been my form of therapy, even if it means writing down the random things I can explain. It has and will continuously help me after a long week without fail.

  1. Stay In and Relax

In my opinion, one could never go wrong with staying in and indulging in self-care. For me, this means listening to music, relaxing, meditating, and watching a good movie. Something as simple as this can bring me so much joy, because there is no worry about the activities that I am involving myself in. I’m a firm believer in prioritizing the actions of self love, and the main way to do that is understanding what makes you feel your best self no matter how simple that may be.

  1. Spend Time with Loved Ones

My friends and family make me feel whole, and when I am surrounded by them it’s almost as if it’s an instant de-stressor for me. After a long week, one of my favorite things to do is to be with my loved ones because not only does it allow me to forget about what I may be struggling with at the time, but it also never fails to fill me with genuine happiness

  1. Create Reminders

After having experienced long weeks of stress, I’ve realized that as a college student, the reminders app  is your best friend. Typically after a stressful week, I like to set reminders on the things that I hope to complete , whether that be academic or personal goals, because this keeps me level-headed and on track with my routine.

I can only hope that you all take the time to relax and breathe after a hard week; Remembering that the struggles you may go through don’t define how the duration of your life will be and better days are coming. <3
