Unpopular opinion: Halloween should not be about horror movies, chainsaws and gore. My friends love a classic scary movie on a cold fall night, but I, on the other hand, will have nightmares for weeks. Now that doesn’t mean I don’t want to get into the Halloween spirit just like everyone else. So, if you’re anything like me here are my top 5 nightmare-free Halloween throwback episodes that get me in the spooky season spirit.

“The Suite Life of Zack and Cody – The Ghost of Suite 316” (S:1 E:19)

This episode is my favorite Halloween episode to date. Although I was terrified of it as a kid, the nostalgia floods back so many memories. The episode follows Zack, Cody and all their friends in the “haunted” suite 316 as they try to connect with the ghost of the last woman who lived there. While Zack is continuously playing pranks it makes everyone wonder – are the spooky events Zack or is there really a ghost? You’ll have to watch to find out!

“iCarly – iScream On Halloween” (S:1 E:7)

“iScream On Halloween” is the perfect mix of comedy and suspense. Carly, Sam and Freddy shoot an episode of iCarly in an apartment that is rumored to be haunted. The scenes jump from creepy events that start to interrupt the show to Spencer, who is giving out random objects instead of candy. This episode will keep you on the edge of your seat while also giggling at the chaos.

“Friends – The One With The Halloween Party” (S:8 E:6)

I love “Friends” because it’s “easy watching TV,” and this episode is no different. “Friends” set the spooky side of Halloween to the side and brought in the reality of what the day usually consists of – a Halloween party, silly costumes and a little drama. During the episode, Phoebe finds out her sister is getting married to someone she’s known for two weeks, meanwhile Rachel is giving out money instead of candy. The episode ends with a lot of arm-wrestling. Probably sounds slightly confusing and chaotic but that’s what makes it so great!

“Zoey 101 – Haunted House” (S:2 E:4)

“Zoey 101” is now on Netflix, giving everyone even more of a reason to watch the Halloween episode. Logan is in charge of creating a Haunted House at PCA, but Zoey and Chase think he made it too scary for the kids. Dustin and his friend get lost inside while Michael gets chased all across campus by a couple from France who thinks he’s sick because of his costume. The twist ending always makes this episode worth the watch.

“Spongebob Squarepants – Scaredy Pants” (S:1 E:13)

Okay, I know “Spongebob” may seem like a reach, but somehow it always makes me laugh the same as when I was a kid, and for that reason, it made the list. During the episode, Spongebob and Patrick are trying to dress up to have the scariest costumes for the Krusty Krab Halloween party until the Flying Dutchman shows up. Just when you think he has everyone spooked, Spongebob has something else in mind. This episode is a quick watch and something that everyone would enjoy.

So, if you’re anything like me, as Halloween approaches, swap out the horror movies for lighthearted, nightmare-free tv so you can still sleep soundly at night!
