Best Places To Visit In Virginia During Spooky Season

Halloween Costumes. Pumpkin Patches. Pillsbury Cookies. Scary Movies. October has to be one of the best months of the year because of all the fun events, activities and the whole spooky and cozy vibe that the month has to offer. Virginia is more than just the beautiful views of mountains and greenery; When spooky season hits the calendar, Virginia offers some of the best activities to visit and do when you’re here. Here are some of my favorite places to go in October.

Haunted Nightmares – Winchester, VA

Not going to a haunted house during the month of October is like not eating cake on your birthday, especially when one of the best-haunted houses is in Virginia. Haunted Nightmares is like watching a scary movie but you’re in it. It has professional actors and lighting, insane scenarios, and will definitely give you a fright. But Haunted Nightmares doesn’t just offer haunted houses, it also has many different frightful activities along with a moonlight hayride, escape rooms, and a corn maze. You don’t want to miss out on this!

Carter Mountain Orchard – Charlottesville, VA

Bring your friends and family to this cute orchard in Charlottesville. Not only can you pick pumpkins during the spooky season, but they offer apple and peach picking during special seasons. Carter Mountain Orchards is just minutes from downtown Charlottesville and is a big hit during October. The drive there is a beautiful, scenic route and once you get there, you won’t want to leave. The orchard has one of the BEST views of Charlottesville, showing off the most breathtaking view of the valley.

Yoder’s farm – Rustburg, VA

Who doesn’t love a good old corn maze? Well, Yoder’s Farm has got other mazes beat because they create their own unique themes and designs for their corn maze every. single. year. Going in during the day can be a fun little treat but if you want a challenge, going in the after-night maze will be even more fun. They also offer pumpkin picking, hanging out with farm animals, and so much more.

You can’t spend a spooky season without a spooky treat! Astro Doughnuts has got you covered with the most amazing desserts that will ever be presented to you. Candy apple, maple bacon, pumpkin spice, oh my! Anything from Astros will satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you wanting more. Make your way over to Falls Church so that Astros can provide you will their fall comfort desserts.
