Besties…it’s no secret that autumn is upon us (even if this bizarre and persistent Seattle sunshine begs to differ). With fall quarter in full swing and rainy days right around the corner, what better time to compile a cozy soundtrack to drink tea and gaze out the window to?? To keep things exciting, this playlist will consist of full albums, all released this year, perfect for settling into for a solid homework sesh or a new daydream plot (I’m not the only one, right?).

  1. Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You by Big Thief

This band’s most recent album offers a folksy twist on their old, classic, alt-rock flavor. Dragon has more gentle, acoustic songs than previous albums, which is great for a quiet, misty day. My favorite songs on the album are “Change,” “The Only Place,” “Simulation Swarm,” and the title track, “Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You.”

  1. Moss by Maya Hawke

Not many people know that the Stranger Things star makes music at all, let alone know about how amazing of a singer/songwriter she is! Hawke’s sophomore album was released just a few weeks ago, right in time for the moody weather that is about to ensue. “Backup Plan,” “Crazy Kid,” and “Mermaid Bar” have been on repeat for me this month.

  1. Eagle, Idaho by The Brazen Youth

The Brazen Youth has always been one of my favorites, so I was stoked when they dropped some new tunes this year. Their harmonies, lyrics, and steady drum beats are so satisfying to listen to while walking, cleaning, typing…doing anything, really. My top choices on Eagle, Idaho have to be “Cloud Parade,” “Hometown,” “1TL2DU4,” and “Who told you that you were naked?”

  1. Warm Chris by Aldous Harding

I’ll be honest—I have NO idea what most of her songs are about. However, this is what I love so much about Harding. Her unique voice is so soothing, her lyrics strange and intriguing, and her melodies soft, yet upbeat. “Tick Tock,” “Warm Chris,” and “Fever” are a few of the highlights on this album for me.

Only four items on this list, yes, but within it contains over 3 ½ hours of what I hope will be your new favorite soundtrack for this fall. Walking through the soggy streets of Seattle to these songs will solidify your Main Character Syndrome, which is what we all need, right?
