Here are the best things to do in Ottawa this fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Carleton chapter.

It’s been a long time coming, but the fall season is finally back in full force. Fall activities are some of my favourites — everything is so fun and cozy. Here are some of the best things to do if you find yourself in Ottawa this fall.

saunder’s farm

A little bit of a drive from central Ottawa, but extremely worth it: Saunder’s Farm. If you are from Ottawa, chances are this is a fall tradition. If not, it’s about to become one. Enjoy “Pumpkin Days” and “Fright Fest!” Pumpkin Days are great for families and include hayrides, mazes, shows and more fun attractions. Fright Fest is perfect for anyone looking to do similar activities, but made extremely spooky. This place is open all year round for different seasonal events but is known for its iconic Halloween activities, meaning you need to check it out this year.

Apple Picking

You can’t go through fall without an apple-picking trip. Not only do you get a haul of apples to bake treats with, but also have lots of fun photoshoot opportunities with your friends. Cannamore Orchard is only about forty minutes away from Ottawa and offers apple picking, pumpkin picking, and even festive activities like mazes and wagon rides.

Café Hopping

Yes, just like bar hopping but (possibly) more fun. I’ve never done this, but I heard somebody refer to this activity and it’s been on my fall bucket list ever since. While walking down Bank street, I never fail to notice cute little cafés on every street corner. Dress up in cute fall attire with your friends, and try a drink in as many spots as you can find! Even more fun and fall-themed: try a pumpkin spice latte at each place, and order them from best to worst.

cozy night in

Not exactly Ottawa-specific, but still one of the most important on this list. Fall nights are the best nights to throw on either Gilmore Girls or a scary movie, grab a warm beverage and bake cute Pillsbury cookies (you know the ones). Even carving or painting pumpkins with friends and a glass of wine makes for the perfect night.

I hope you enjoy these fun fall activities here in Ottawa!
