5 Upcoming Movies to Warm Your Heart As It Gets Cold Outside

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCSB chapter.

As the weather gets colder, there’s nothing better than snuggling under a blanket, gathering some seasonal snacks, and turning on feel-good flicks. Here are 5 of the most heartwarming movies to watch this Fall.

Bros (9/30)

Billy Eichner and Judd Apatow collaborate to write what may be the first gay rom-com to hit mainstream media. In this story, two men spark a relationship amidst the chaos of life and their own commitment issues. Bros set to release on September 30.

My Father’s Dragon (10/8)

This animated movie came to Netflix on October 8th. This is an adaptation of Ruth Stiles Gannett’s beloved 1948 children’s book of the same name. It follows a young boy, Elmer Elevator, as he travels to Wild Island in search of a captive dragon and encounters a number of beasts along the way.

White Bird: A Wonder STory (10/14)

Based on R.C. Palacio’s Auggie and Me – a collection of stories exploring the characters of his 2012 novel Wonder – the movie follows young Julian as he listens to his grandmother recount her experiences as a young Jewish girl in Nazi-occupied France.  The movie covers themes of love, companionship, and resilience, and promises to be just as inspiring as its predecessor Wonder. White Bird hit theaters on October 14th.

Ticket to Paradise (10/21)

Julia Roberts and George Clooney star as a divorced couple who travel to Bali in an attempt to stop their daughter from making the same mistake they made – a shotgun wedding. But as they spend more time together, they wonder if their own wedding was really a mistake after all. This rom-com came out on October 21.

Disenchanted (11/24)

Disenchanted continues the story of Princess Giselle, who was last seen happily married in New York City at the end of the 2007 Disney film Enchanted. Now dissatisfied with city life, Giselle and her family move to the suburbs and inadvertently turn the entire community upside down in the process. Disenchanted is set to release to theaters and Disney+ on November 24.

Hopefully these 5 films provide you with inspiration for a few cozy movie nights and enough entertainment to last you until the holiday season. Happy watching!
