Wait, Is Paramore Releasing A New Album?

It’s official: Paramore has broken the internet with the announcement of their latest single “This Is Why.” The release of new music comes as the group’s first in five years ━ yes, five ━ and has fans going crazy. Along with Arctic Monkeys’ upcoming new album in October, It looks like this fall may just be the season for big musical comebacks.

After Paramore wiped their Instagram clean of all old photos and left some cryptic messages on their official website, fans have been sent into a never-ending spiral of questioning whether Paramore is releasing a new album. Here’s what we know so far — and yes, I’m freaking out!

The group took to Twitter and Instagram on Sept. 16 with posts that read, “‘This Is Why,’ the song. Sept 28.” with a photo of what seems to be the official cover art for the song. Along with these shocking, unprecedented social media posts, the ambiguity on their official website has kept everyone guessing.

A range of dates spanning from Sept. 1 to Sept. 28 are all labeled with cryptic names. Sept. 7 is labeled “blank,” along with Sept. 9 as “wr0ng,” Sept. 12 “LA.” Just the day before this announcement on Sept. 15, the Sept. 16 slot was named “p.s. t.i.w.,” which can now be confirmed as precedent to the announcement of the new single.

The last two dates on their website, though, have left everyone questioning their true meaning. Fans believe they may be hidden easter eggs when it comes to undercovering news of a potential new Paramore album.

Sept. 19 lets everyone know they can “start spreading the news,” with Sept. 28 left completely, utterly blank. Dumbfounded? I sure am. Has Paramore simply left the date blank to leave space for the premiere of their new single “This Is Why,” which drops that day, or could we possibly expect a new album to be well on its way along with the single?

Speculation for a new Paramore album began after the band posted footage on their Discord of them in the studio on Sept. 9. Bandmate Hayley Williams sings, “Bored, I’m bored, so bored, from the frontline / Quite the opposite, I’m safe inside,” which fans speculate could correlate to the “blank” or “wr0ng” message on their official website.

So, what do all of these messages mean? Is Paramore really releasing a new album after a five-year hiatus? The good news is they’re finally releasing new music, but I guess we’ll have to keep digging to see if a new album is on its way.
