Snow Day!!

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Despite growing up in New Jersey and attending school in Boston, I am not a snow person. Yes, when I was a little kid, I enjoyed snow. But back then, snow meant a day off from school, building snowmen with my friends, and then warming up by baking cookies. Now snow means shoveling out my car, trekking to class (Wellesley NEVER cancels), and resisting the urge to make mug after mug of hot cocoa (because calories still count when it snows).

So when I heard there was going to be a blizzard today, I flipped. Especially because I’ve been keeping myself sane during the cold winter months by saying that it’s going to be spring soon, and then the winter weather advisory brought me back to the harsh reality of Boston winters. And I have class at Brandeis on Wednesday nights, meaning I would have to shovel out my car while it was still supposed to be snowing, and then drive through on slippery blizzard-stricken streets.

But, before the snow had even started sticking, good news arrived Wellesley might think its students are too hardcore for snow days, but Brandeis doesn’t. Brandeis canceled all classes after 1p.m! Sorry Wellesley, but this time, I’d rather not be so hardcore. For the first time in a long time, I’m enjoying snow again. Even if I’ve had a little too much hot cocoa today.

Glad to hear you got a snow day! I only had morning classes yesterday, so I spent most of the afternoon drinking cinnamon-apple tea and watching the snow fall.

I didn't get to go out and

I didn't get to go out and play in the snow because I was working on the paper, but OMG, I came home at midnight, freezing cold, and my roommates had spend ALL DAY baking tons of vegan treats. There is no such thing as too much hot chocolate.

There was also an epic 100+ person snowball fight on campus that got broken up by the cops. Crazy!
