Modesty Matters: One Pieces We Love!

It’s that season again! Sunshine and summertime! That means hitting the beach in the season’s cutest swimsuits. Bikinis seem to be the swimsuits of choice these days, but what about for us girls, perhaps the more modest or self-conscious, that aren’t necessarily comfortable bearing all in that revealing string bikini? Never fear! The bikini, though adorable, isn’t the only form of swimsuit out there. Let’s not forget or underestimate the classic and often overlooked one-piece swimsuit. Here are some one-pieces we’re really loving here at HC for summer 2012!

Madewell’s Rosette Tanksuit:

Remember the ‘itsy-bitsy, teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini’? Meet its slightly more modest counterpart! Adding fabric without compromising style, this itsy bitsy one-piece is totally cute and summery for a day poolside or at the beach!

Lulu*s Mandalynn Bianka Convertible Black Monokini:

One piece? Yes. Boring? I think not! From the back, this may seem like a regular bikini, but the front reveals it is actually a one-piece with trendy cutout sides! This is definitely a must have for my summer wardrobe!

camilla and marc® ipanema one-piece:

This polka dot swimsuit is pure perfection! The perfect mix of modern and vintage, featuring one of this season’s hottest trends – color blocking. With this suit, you can’t go wrong!

Modcloth Beach Blanket Bingo One Piece in Red:

This retro one-piece is adorable! Think ladylike old Hollywood glamour, circa 1940s and 50s. This is an adorable take on the classic pinup-girl style, and definitely a great choice for all the vintage enthusiasts (such as me!) out there!

NastyGal Fiorella Swimsuit:

For our more daring fashionistas, here is an edgier take on the one-piece. With the cutout detailing, this one piece adds a sassy edge to the classic one piece and puts a modern twist on modesty.

Anne Cole Swimsuit, Solid Classic:

And then of course, there’s the classic streamlined one piece. A bit boring of course, but it never goes out of style! Add a contemporary trendy flair to the swimsuit by pairing it with color-block heels or an animal print cover up (both super hot and wearable Summer 2012 runway trends!)

Those are just a few of my favorite summer 2012 one-piece swimsuits. I hope this article has caused you to question and/or re-think that common “one pieces are boring” idea so many collegiettes have and that you see that one pieces can be just as fun as bikinis! Have a great summer!
