There’s nothing about a good pair of boyfriend jeans that we don’t love: for one, they’re a refreshing alternative to the ubiquitous skinny jean, and secondly, few things are more comfortable than that perfectly slouchy, borrowed-from-the-boys silhouette. But when it comes to actually wearing them and still looking chic and pulled together, there a few things to keep in mind.

The key to an oversize item like boyfriend jeans is balance – with the looser silhouette, make sure to balance out your look with a more tailored piece on top. A simple crewneck sweater or button-down shirt will offset that slouchiness in the most figure-flattering way possible.

Be bold: amp up your denim with a jolt of high voltage color or an eye-catching print for an editor-approved ensemble. Girly colors and prints offset the boyishness of your jeans for an interesting mix of styles.

With the more casual feel that boyfriend jeans have, consider dressing them up with more polished, ladylike elements: pair them with a sharply tailored blazer, or throw on some grownup statement platforms to elevate your look from slouchy to chic.
