Every beauty enthusiast seeks the secret to glowing, healthy skin, and strong hair. The truth is that it starts on the inside with the foods you’re nourishing your body with!

Fruits and veggies are packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory agents that are truly beneficial to your well-being. Not only will you get an extra boost of energy, these superfoods can also help prevent disease. With summer around the corner, kick start your health regimen with these delicious drink recipes and feel the perks of consuming nature’s candy!

Blueberry Banana Smoothie

Blueberries contain the most antioxidants of all fruits and vegetables. These antioxidants benefit brain function and improve mental health and memory overall. Blueberries also protect against cancer and heart disease.

What you’ll need:

·      1 cup frozen blueberries

·      1 frozen banana

·      1 cup coconut or almond milk

·      1 tbsp. peanut or almond butter

·      1 tbsp. flaxseed

·      Garnish with sliced almonds, goji berries, or chia seeds

Green Kiwi Smoothie

One serving of kiwi fruit has five times the Vitamin C of an orange, which boosts the immune system. Kiwis are also a great source of Vitamin E, an antioxidant that rejuvenates skin and fights aging (less wrinkles, ladies!).

What you’ll need:

·      1 cup spinach

·      1 cup frozen mango

·      1 cup coconut water

·      3 kiwis

·      1 pear

·      1 tbsp. chia seeds

·      Garnish with a slice of kiwi and chia seeds

Raspberry Creamsicle Smoothie

Raspberries contain powerful antioxidants that fight against cancer growth and improve cognitive ability. Give red raspberry leaf tea a try, which has been found to be effective in decreasing menstrual cramps.

What you’ll need:

·      1 cup frozen raspberries

·      ½ frozen banana

·      1 orange or 1 scoop orange sorbet

·      1 cup vanilla soy milk

·      ½ tbsp. maple syrup

·      Ice

Strawberry Sunrise Smoothie

These superfruits contain a high level of Vitamin C – just one cup contains 100% of your recommended intake! Strawberries are an amazing source of folate (folic acid), which protects the heart and can help prevent the decline of cognitive function. They’re also filled with biotin, which helps build strong hair and nails.

What you’ll need:

·      1 ½ cups strawberries

·      1 cup frozen raspberries

·      1 orange

·      1 cup coconut or almond milk

·      1 medium carrot, chopped

·      1 small beat

Tropical Smoothie

Foods high in potassium such as cantaloupe and pineapple can decrease blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke. Cantaloupe is also rich in fiber and contains Vitamin A, a nutrient that provides strong, healthy hair and radiant skin!

What you’ll need:

·      1 ½ cups chopped cantaloupe

·      1 cup pineapple chunks

·      ½ frozen banana

·      1 cup coconut water

·      Ice

·      Garnish with passion fruit

There you have it, collegiettes, a few healthy, delicious drink recipes that will ensure you feel and look your best this summer!

Wilfrid Laurier

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
