This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.
As a tribute to the graduating class of 2012, we’re going to bring you interviews with Western’s graduates, their memories, accomplishments and advice to other students. Our first interview is with Manal Juma, enjoy!
How do you feel about graduating? Excited? Nervous?
Yes of course I’m excited to be done, it’s a great accomplishment! I’ve reached a milestone in my life that will never happen again! But I am nervous at the same time. Things are starting to feel very real now, and at times I see a rather scary, chaotic world in which I’ll have to find my way and unfortunately in the next few years I have some huge decisions to make. After four years of comfortably floating around in Western I’m definitely going to miss it.
What’s your most memorable experience at Western?
I feel being a part of student’s council was a great experience, although things got really hectic it was truly worthwhile.
What are your proudest achievements/ accomplishments?
Being on the Dean’s list consecutively; they were my proudest moments
What are you going to miss most about Western? Being at University?
Friends and the whole living life at my own time; it’s a fantastic feeling.
If you could tell your first year self something, what would it be?
I missed frosh week since I joined a month later so that’s one thing I wish I could experience.
What are your future plans/hopes/dreams?
I have way too many plans. Besides the usual job-hunting, I want to begin by celebrating graduation for a year and then travel the world.
Any advice you want to give to current students?
Giving advice makes me feel awfully old!! But I would say that this is the time where we have limitless possibilities and it will all fly by too soon so make the most of it.
It’s best to Keep Calm and Ninja On ;)
