Ah! Midterms. One of the most dreaded times of the year besides finals. I personally find midterms worse, because it’s right in the middle of Thanksgiving, Homecoming and Halloween. What better time to not be able to go out and have fun. While you’re daydreaming about what you could be doing, here’s a list of things that I’ll be doing to avoid doing work.

1. Watch Netflix

Netflix and chill? What better way to not study than binge watch your favourite show for the 5th time.. Highly recommend Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, and Prison Break.

2. Text everyone possible

When you should be studying, but instead you decide to text every person in your contact list. People that you haven’t spoken to in years, or people that are in your classes and see if they know what’s going to be on your exam. Either way you’re busy busy busy texting away, and secretly crossing your fingers that the texts never stops.

3. Check Instagram 10 times

Checking Instagram is a common thing to do when you’re trying not to study. Each time you pick up your phone for some reason you automatically click the Instagram application. But how many times can you really open the app to realize that nothing new is loading… And then you end up stalking your boyfriend’s aunt’s daughter’s best friend’s dog’s account.

4. Check Snapchat

Not studying is the perfect chance to try out every single Snapchat filter and send it to everyone on your list. Somehow you end up on the filter of the distorted face, taking videos of yourself with weird accents… or maybe that’s just me.

5. Check the fridge/cupboard

This one always makes me laugh. I feel like I’m a Sims character when this happens. I get up, go and look in the fridge, freezer, and cupboards. I stand there for a couple minutes just staring, to only realize there’s nothing to eat. I go back and sit down. About 10 minutes later I get up and proceed to do that exact same thing hoping there will be something else to eat but there isn’t.

6. Clean your room

Why is it that as soon as you sit down to do some work at your desk you realize how dirty your room really is. You end up reorganizing your desk, refolding all the clothes in your closet, dusting the floor, mirrors and even under your bed. You could literally find anything to clean instead.

7. Make plans for the weekend

Since your exam is done before the weekend starts (hopefully), so why not start planning every little thing you’re going to do this weekend instead of studying. Seems like the perfect way to waste your time.

8. Stalk yourself on social media

Stalking yourself on social media is always a nice way to pass time by. As soon as you get a new follower on Instagram or new friend on Facebook you automatically know they are stalking you so you have to go and re-stalk yourself to know what they’re seeing.

9. Halloween costumes

With the upcoming celebration and many student’s favourite time of year, looking up Halloween costumes is the best way to not study, as you can always find something better than the last.
