A Girls’ Guide to the Top 8 Greatest Stress Relievers and Tips

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

You’ve been working hard all semester and it all comes down to these last few weeks before finals. In order to keep sane, it is important to relax and focus. Both of these things are difficult to do when you are stressed out. Here are some easy stress relievers and tips that will keep you on task and feeling good during the dreaded finals period.

1) Paint your nails. It isn’t a bad idea to start collecting some nail polish in your favorite colors. By focusing on something else for a few minutes, you are allowing yourself to take a quick well-earned break. Painting your nails can also be a soothing experience.

2) Take a hot shower or bath. There is nothing like a hot shower or bath to take your worries away.

3) Blast your fave tunes. This is a good time to use Pandora. Pandora will allow you to choose an artist that you want to listen to and will provide you with songs by that artist as well as similar artists. Let Pandora do the work of changing songs while you worry about singing the lyrics and doing your work.

4) Take a 30-minute nap. Naps can be very rejuvenating. However, if you sleep for too long you may wake up feeling groggy and only more tired. Try to drink a little caffeine before you nap and make sure to set that alarm for 30 minutes only!

5) Watch an episode of your favorite show. Make sure you limit your TV watching to just one episode though, or else you are really going to get off track.

6) Take a snack break. In order to do your best studying, it is important to have protein, which gives you energy. A quick sweet or salty snack never hurts either.

7) Go to bed early and wake up early. Don’t sleep the day away. Get your work done ahead of time so you aren’t rushing the night before.

8)  Make a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Warm drinks make you feel good and help you to relax.
