How To Make Your Summer Productive

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

1. Apply for Scholarships

While in college, often times we’re so caught up in how much money we’re spending to be in here, that we forget there is money out there for us! The search for scholarships shouldn’t stop once you get accepted into a college. You should pursue scholarships until graduation. There are endless amounts of scholarships available for everyone. What better way to productively spend your time out of school, than to look for money to pay for it?

2. Get a Summer Job

If you’re unable to manage school and work, getting a summer job is an easy way to make money during the summer.

3. Summer School

Whether you need to catch up in order to graduate in your desired year, or just speed up the process of being in school, summer school is always a productive way to spend the summer.

4. Work on your Personal Brand

Whether it’s a blog or a hobby you want to turn into a profession, branding yourself is key! There’s no start or end time for branding, you just keep doing it.

5. Internships

I’m sure we’re all aware that post-graduation employment is REAL. One of the main reasons for this is lack of experience. A lot of employers seek people who have experience, but how can we gain experience without first landing a job? Interning. Seek positions in a career field related to your degree.

6. Community Service

Community service is a great way to not only be productive, but also give back to your community while doing so. Something as simple as planting flowers in a local garden, or tutoring children can increase your summer productivity.

7. Read self-help books

Reading anything outside of a class assigment is a great way to spend your time. During the summer, self-help books can come in handy by not just passing time, but giving yourself some motivation and becoming a better person.
