3 Things University Students Don’t Want to Hear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Being a university student is stressful, in fact, it is very stressful. We are constantly trying to stay on top of our work, attending class, and pulling all-nighters. To top it all off, we still have to listen to adults explain to us things we really don’t want to hear.  Here are 3 things university students don’t want to hear:

1. There are no jobs in that field.

No matter what your major is, you’ve heard this at least once. It doesn’t get you down from pursuing your dream though.

2. Ah, you must have a lot of student debt.

That’s basically the polite way to say, “you must be really poor”. Whether you actually are or not, adults assume that because you’re in school it must mean you can’t afford to do anything, even if you have a job.

3. Yeah, a lot of people drop out though. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Everyone has an opinion, but others’ opinions really aren’t relevant when it comes to my work ethic. If I want to graduate, I sure as heck will.

No matter what people say though, we always somehow maintain a smile and a nod instead of retaliating.
