Justin Spangler: A Visionary

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Her Campus Utah is proud to introduce this weeks Campus Celebrity, Justin Ray Spangler. Justin is currently a junior here at the University of Utah, majoring in Information Systems. He is an outstanding individual academically, who also participates in several different extracurricular activities. He currently serves as an Associate Director for the Community Service Board of UPC, ASUU Assembly Representative, a frequent volunteer for the Bennion Center, and a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After working on three different campaigns for the ASUU elections in the past years, Justin is running for Student Body President of the Vision Party. If elected, he will be in charge of representing over 32,000 students!

Her Campus (HC): Hi Justin, thanks for meeting with us! So, what made you come to the U?

Justin Spangler (JS): I have always been a University of Utah fan! Even from a young age I loved the Utes. My father also graduated from the University of Utah.

HC: Very interesting! What is your favorite thing about the U?

JS: I love the atmosphere that the U has created for me in a variety of ways. I love attending the football and basketball games, being involved in student groups, and the friendships I have made through and fostered by the University. I love the U because I feel like I am a part of the U, not just a student.

HC: What is your plan after graduating college?

JS: I want to go into technology sales for a major technology company like Apple or Adobe.

HC: What motivated you to run for ASUU President?

JS: Through the process of being an ASUU assembly representative, I was able to witness firsthand how the U can inspire, motivate, and change students’ lives. With this knowledge, I want to outreach and help students become aware and understand the amazing opportunities our school offers, as well as improve and expand these opportunities and programs. I want to make a difference for each individual Utah Ute.

HC: What is one thing you would like to say to the 32,000+ students attending the U?

JS: Get involved! You will get out of your college experience exactly what you put into it, nothing more and nothing less. The Vision Party wants to make the process of becoming involved easier for more students.

HC: Thank you so much and best of luck in the upcoming election!
