10 Things All The Single Ladies Out There Need To Be Reminded Of:

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

You are a strong independent woman who doesn’t need a man.  Seriously you are fabulous.  Being single is something to be appreciated.  You have the rest of your life to be in a serious relationship, but right now you are free to do whatever you please and you only have one person to answer to — yourself.  That freedom is far too underrated.  You feel like flirting with that cutie in your history class that you’ve been eyeing? Go for it girl.  You want to give your number to the cute guy at Chipotle who gave you a burrito bowl free of charge? No one’s stopping you, in fact I encourage you to do so.  Being single is something to enjoy.  Sometimes when we’re single we tend to forget just how great we single ladies have it and need a little reminder.  Here are ten things every single lady should remember:

1) You are plenty desirable.  For every boy you crush on, that doesn’t seem to give you the time of day, there are just as many who are lining up for you to notice them.  You just need to open your eyes.

2) It may be cliché, but good things come to those who wait.  It’s important to focus on being the best you, you can possibly be instead of focusing on trying to find someone to be with.  Don’t worry about anything but yourself and when the time is right that special someone will come right out of the woodwork.

3)      You are beautiful. You don’t need a guy to confirm that.  Be confident in your own skin, exude positive energy and the boys will come flocking.

4) You’re not only beautiful but you’re bright and have a whole future ahead of you.  When you graduate you will be out in the real world where there are plenty of men everywhere you look.  Keep that in mind the next time you’re bummed that the boy you talked to for two minutes at that one party never texted you when you were convinced that he was your soul mate.

5) You are young and vivacious and you are entitled to have lots of fun.  Who wants a boyfriend to tie you down when you can go out with your friends and be unapologetically carefree?  These are the times you’re going to look back on for years to come and you’re going to be thankful you were free to do as you please without feeling guilty.

6) You have friends who love and appreciate you and that should be more than enough.  Enjoy the time you have to spend with your girls instead of having to worry about dividing up time between them and some boy.

7)      You have precious alone time that you’re not expected to have to share with someone else constantly.  You don’t have to tell someone what you’re doing at every hour of the day.  It’s a luxury really.

8) It’s a big world out there ladies and you should take the time to discover what you’re interested in, your likes, dislikes, etc.  Put yourself out there, strike up a conversation, step outside of your comfort zone and you might surprise yourself.

9) You don’t have to make compromises.  You call the shots and are able to live your life as a free woman.  When people ask you to make plans you don’t have to check what someone else is doing. You want to go out and dance on tables? You go right ahead.

10)  Being single is not the end of the world.  The stories from your youth and being reckless with your girlfriends are probably the best stories you’re ever going to have.  Make the most of being single and fabulous and make those in relationships jealous of how much the single life has to offer.
