This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCG chapter.

Because we all know adulting isn’t as easy as we thought it would be. Literally, it’s almost as if you’re trying to be a superhero for your overwhelmed life with hopes not to fail at it.

Here are 8 tips to help guide you on how to keep it all together while being a full-time student and part-time intern. It’s so important to have balance no matter what you’re doing or committing yourself to, try to plan ahead.

1. Don’t stretch yourself too far – Understand your current responsibilities and how time consuming things are before you take on a task that you can’t handle.

2. Communication – Talk to your boss to make sure that you have important dates on your calendar and make sure they don’t interfere with school. That way there will be no confusion since it was already discussed prior to.

3. Plan ahead – Go ahead and write down important dates such as due dates, club meetings, holidays, exams and doctors appointments. This will keep you up to date and help you to project your hectic life better.

4. Start Early – The earlier you start on an assignment the better, start on big projects the first week of class. Now, you can see how much time this project may actually take and this gives you plenty of time to put your best foot forward and make changes if need be.

5. Utilize your calendar – Your calendar is a life saver; you will need your calendar the most. Mark your schedule down and plan out time for studying and assignments. Make sure your class schedule syncs with your school schedule, because you cannot miss class and shouldn’t.

6. Build a relationship with your professor and boss – Building relationships is important, especially if hard times may arise. If you build a trustworthy relationship with your boss and professor they will be a bit more understanding when you are having difficulty or need extra time on an assignment.

7. Personal Time – Block out personal time, you really need time for yourself. Give yourself some breathing room, make sure you’re eating a balanced diet. Maintain relationships, call your family and don’t alienate yourself because you’re too busy.

8. Productivity – Make sure that your system is effective. Check your grades and monitor performance. Is your schedule working for you? Ask your boss about your performance. If you didn’t do to well on an assignment ask your professor why if there weren’t notes given. If you check on things midway, you have time to change your system to make it better so you will not fail.

You have the chance to succeed and be great! Breathe, focus, and I promise you will have your life all the way under control!
