These classes are free of charge and held at the Student Rec Center or the Rams Head Rec Center. You don’t have to sign up, just show up for the class. Get to class early so you’re guaranteed a spot.
Here are some of my top picks…
1. Cardio Funk and Pump
This workout is perfect for the girl who loves to shake it. This fast-paced, hour-long cardio workout mixes hip-hope dance routines with traditional aerobics for classes that will really make you sweat. Plus, who doesn’t love dancing to Beyonce? It’s like not even working out. Get there early because this class fills up fast!
This class is a great way to get those toned abs. With 20 minutes of non-stop sit-ups, crunches, you name it, while incorporating weights into the routine; you’re sure to get in a great workout. Plus, they always play great music to keep you going.
The Zumba workout method, which boasts the slogan, “ditch the workout, join the party,” takes aerobics to a new level. The class teaches you Latin-inspired dance moves to international beats, designed to burn tons of calories and tone your entire body. So go ahead, pretend you are Shakira for an hour.
4. Box 30/20/10
This class is not your traditional kickboxing class. Unleash your inner tough girl with this exciting one-hour workout. It includes 30 minutes of cardio kickboxing, 20 minutes of muscle conditioning and 10 minutes of intense stretching- a perfect all-over toning workout to get your ideal bikini bod.
5. Ballet Sculpt
Strengthen and tone through a combination of ballet moves and strength training equipment. This class is not just for ballerinas!
6. Butts, guts and thighs
This muscle conditioning class, like the name suggests, is a great workout to tone your lower body. You’ll be sure to feel great afterward!
7. Belly dance
Belly dance is a fun way to strengthen your core and get some cardio in at the same time. The class includes basic beginner choreography; so don’t fret if you are new to the dance.
