The Clothesline Project

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montana chapter.

This week the University of Montana’s Student Assault Resource Center will be hosting the Clothesline Project, a nationally recognized event that is organized to raise awareness about sexual violence.  Those whose lives have been affected by sexual violence are invited to decorate t-shirts with personal messages and expressions about their experiences and overcoming violence. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday in the University Center.

The shirts that are made will be displayed on November 4th at Take Back the Night, a march and rally against sexual violence.  The two events raise awareness that violence is everywhere and brings together survivors to unite in healing and activism.  For more information on Take Back the Night visit the Women’s Center web page at http://www.umt.edu/wcenter/events.aspx.

We will have pics from the project and more on Take Back the Night. Get involved!
