3 BuzzFeed Video Series Worth Watching

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UH chapter.

BuzzFeed churns out lots and lots of YouTube videos but not all of them are as exceptional as we’d perhaps like. In fact, some of them feel like regurgitated content or something thrown together in five minutes to meet a deadline, and others are just plain boring. There are three BuzzFeed series that I watch religiously and I’ve described them below for your reading pleasure and ranked them from “I love it” to “I wait with bated breath for every upload”. I highly recommend binging all three series!

3.) Worth It

If you love food, you’ll love BuzzFeed’s ‘Worth It’. Hosted by Steven (and usually Andrew), this BuzzFeed webseries is centered around comparing one food item across three drastically different price points to decide which one is the most “worth it” at it’s price. Steven is enthusiastic and fun, with a real passion and excitement for food. Against Andrew’s largely monotonous attitude and way of speaking (which is still weirdly charismatic?), Steven’s energy is even more noticeable. The two describe their meals carefully and show a real appreciation for the food they eat. They’ve traveled to places outside of LA to film and have even gone to Korea to try real Korean barbecue. The series, which is mainly focused on food, also has videos of the lifestyle variety in which Steven along with friends-who-are-not-Andrew-but-are-still-lovable explore lifestyle items at different price points. From suits, to flights, to apartments– the ‘Worth It’ lifestyle videos are just as interesting as the food videos. The entire series can be found here

2.) The Try Guys

Buzzfeed’s favorite sons are Ned, Keith, Eugene, and Zach– the Try Guys! The Try Guys are a group of men who “try” different…things. ‘Things’ is a vague word, but their content is of such a varied nature that it’s difficult to find a word that is more specific. From women’s underwear to Cuban Miami, the Try Guys share their experiences on one of Buzzfeed’s most successful webseries. They have also hosted a YouTube Red series called Squad Wars, which is structured like a game show. Their videos are hilarious and sometimes a little gross– in fact, the Try Guys themselves have agreed that they started making videos together because they happened to be the “grossest guys at BuzzFeed”. The series ranges from being completely silly to being profound and educational– their videos don’t disappoint! The Try Guys are a unique group with a fun aesthetic; they are very different from one another, but their authentic friendship endears the viewers and makes their antics heartwarming as well as hilarious. The entire series can be found here

1.) Unsolved

Ryan and Shane host this interesting webseries that features unsolved mysteries of both the supernatural and true crime variety. The two delve into details regarding the mysteries, discuss theories and suspects, and often visit the site where the spooky events took place. Ryan and Shane have beguiling on-screen chemistry with Ryan being a solid believer of all things creepy and unsettling, and Shane being a stubborn pessimist. ‘Unsolved’ is both educational and entertaining; imagine a comedy-filled and easily consumed version of CBS’ 48 Hours. The series is funny, intriguing, and not always for the faint of heart. It is a fan favorite and my personal favorite. I’ve seen every episode and refresh YouTube like an obsessed gremlin every Friday, waiting for the new episode to drop! The entire series can be found here.

If you have some time or just want to watch a YouTube video while you eat your meal, try watching a video from one of the above listed series! This isn’t an exhaustive list of BuzzFeed series content I enjoy, so I wanted to include a few more honorary mentions: Outsmarted, Forgotten (there are only three videos but they’re great if you love historical adventuring/investigating), and Pero Like!
