Catching a glimpse of her smiling face around campus is no easy feat for busy Cierra Thompson, a talented Dance Dawg and UGA cheerleader
Thompson is a second year Business Management Major and Women’s Studies minor from Atlanta, Georgia. When she’s not hitting the books, Cierra is shuffling between cities to cheer on the Lady Dawgs in Spokane, Washington.
As a member of the elite UGA Dance Dawgs and The Pamoja Dance Company’s Show Coordinator, she is dancing her way into her dreams of filling the footsteps of Lauren Anderson, the outreach coordinator for the Huston Ballet Company.
After graduation, Cierra wants to pursue a Master’s Degree in Non-Profit Organization Management. This will help open the doors to her future women’s center to inspire women through dancing, health, and beauty.
“Dancing is obviously my passion,” Thompson gushed.
But her passions aren’t limited to just dance. As the co-founder of the Athens’ Insight Program, a mentoring program for Clarke County Middle school students, the Vice President of the Motivational Club at UGA, and a B.E.S.T
She is a member of the Dean’s list, a National Society of Collegiate Scholar, a UGA Certificate of Merit Recipient and recipient of several prestigious scholarships. Cierra is currently the Miss Black from the 2013 Miss Black and Gold Pageant of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Cierra has recently been nominated for the NAACP 2013 Student Athlete of the Year.
“Your life is like a book on God’s shelf, and the life that we’re living is our meant to be story. I’m just trying to live my story!” she shrugged and smiled.
Her legacy for current Dawgs and Dawgs to come is service.
“Find service in the areas you are passionate about. Live everyday with passion, integrity, and love knowing that God has a special purpose for your life that’s already written. I just want everyone else to live their storybook too!” she smiled,” Thompson said.
One thing is sure: we look forward to seeing great things from this collegiette in years to come.
