5 Ways You Know it’s Fall at UF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

1.  Pumpkin Spice lattes… EVERYWHERE
Starbucks cups are in the hands of what seems like every student, and the smell of it is wafting from each location on campus. As you try to get your homework done, the sound of even more orders being made is reverberating from Library West.

2. Confused wardrobes
Living in a location where we are blessed/cursed (depending on your perspective) with warm weather for the majority of the year, students’ attire is an eclectic mix during the autumn months. Some students are unable to decide between dressing for the weather and dressing for the season. Students wearing UGGs and leggings walk side-by-side with collegiettes in shorts and tanks.

3. More students outdoors
As the sun becomes a little less scalding in the coming weeks, more and more students can be found outside lounging around and studying on the lawn than in the comfort of the air-conditioned libraries, dorms, and indoor hangouts.

4. Tour groups
College application season is at its peak, and hopeful students are becoming more serious about their college decision (remember when?). Tours and informational sessions can be found in some of the more scenic places on campus as anxious students accompanied by even more anxious parents travel in mini-mobs across campus.

5. The gym crowd
After the initial few weeks of enthusiastic new-school-year resolutions of getting fit and staying in shape wears off, the crowd at the gym eerily dwindles down to a much smaller, regular, and devoted group of students who brave the darker mornings and evenings to make it to the gym.
