It’s about that time of year where housing applications and leases are out. Maybe it’s your first year at UCSB and you’re afraid of “adulting.” Maybe you’re sick of living in the dorms and want to blast music in your house without having the RAs come knocking at your door about quiet hours.
If you live on-campus, you won’t have to worry about cooking or buying groceries, which is great . . .
. . . unless you’re sick of dining commons.
If you live off-campus, you’ll be saving money and have your own living room and kitchen . . .
. . . but filing paperwork and all that adult stuff is pretty intimidating.
If you live on-campus, there are study rooms to help you focus and you don’t even need to leave your building . . .
. . . but you’re restriced by what you can do in the dorms. This means no pets, no parties, and no personal microwave.
If you live off-campus, you can stay over the breaks without getting charged extra . . .
. . . but classes are so far.
There are pros and cons to either options. What matters most is that you make the best of whatever situation you’re in.
