How to Survive a Day In The Life Of a Girl Boss

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

You have a jampacked day and now you’re wondering how you are going to do it all. How on earth are you going to make all of your committments on time while staying sane, getting all the sleep and nutrients you need to survive and actually being present? I’m here to tell you that it’s not going to be easy, but I have experienced this day many times first hand and I have a survival guide that will help you get through even the toughest and busiest of days and still come out on top as a GIRL BOSS.

1. Keep a planner with you no matter what.

Make sure you write down each obligation you have for the day so that you don’t miss out on an opportunity, get in trouble with your boss or superior and worst of all: piss off your friends. Physically writing down your commitments in time slots will not only help with memorizing what you have to do for the day, but if you forget you can simply open up the page of your planner and double check. Planners are lifesavers and we should all have them.

2. Review your plan for the day the night before.

This may sound a little bit extra, but reminding yourself of what you have the next day will mentally and physically prepare you for what is to come and you can go through what you will be doing and when instead fo scrambling around and rushing to each event.

3. Plan your outfit and bring a change of clothes.

Pick out your outfit according to what you will be doing throughout the whole day. Plan on dressing in layers if you live somewhwere that is cold in the morning and sweltering in the afternoon (cough Florida cough) and bringing a change of clothes if you are required to be in the same place for long amounts of time.

4. SNACKS SNACKS SNACKS!

Trust me, you will get super hangry if you barely have enough time to sit down for a meal so make sure to bring some protein bars, granola bars or something that is easy to snack on so you don’t die of starvation.

5. Stay fresh.

Trust me, you will want to stay fresh because you don’t want to be THAT person. If you are hurrying around all day long you will want to wear perfume or bring a stick of deoderant with you in your bag.

6. Remember that it is all worth it.

You may be going crazy thinking about all of the meetings you have to make, all of the hours you have to work or all of the homework you have to complete but it will all be worth it in the end. You can do this and due to your hard work and diligence, you will get that dream job, you will accomplish that goal that you’ve been wanting to reach and you will be a girl boss, because let’s be real, you already are.

Now that you know the secret to being a girl boss while juggling a number of responsibilities throughout the day, this survival guide will help you maintain your status and aid you in discovering how to successfully navigate a day from hell or just a day that goes by without a single break. I wish you luck and I know you can do it!

I am a writing and rhetoric major at the University of Central Florida and I really love tacos and pugs (the dog breed). I am a writer for Her Campus UCF and have been writing since I was eight years old :). My great grandfather won the Pulitzer Prize so I have some big shoes to fill.
