The Best Stores for Gym Clothes

Monday, April 18, 2011

The gym is like the anti-pretty headquarters for most UCF beauties. It’s really hard to look cute while in sweat-drenched, baggy clothes. But with the right mix of workout outfits, you can look great (Even 30 minutes into your Zumba class).

Here are my top store picks for workout attire:

Victoria’s Secret PINK

This is your one-stop shop for all things Yoga. Body hugging pants and racer-back tanks are the basic staples for yoga in every store. However, the PINK line of active wear has splashes of animal prints and metallic colors that will encourage you to go to the gym… even if just to show off your clothes. While picking bottoms, definitely go for high waisted pants that give coverage when stuck in a downward dog… the girls in your class will greatly appreciate it.

Forever 21

Not sure of what kind of workout you want to do yet? Head over to Forever 21. Their new line of active wear is great for any kind of workout. So if you’re the type who switches from yoga to weight lifting to soccer, this is the perfect place for your workout basics. Definitely pick up a pair of sports bras, polyester shorts, and loose-fitting tanks. You can reuse these components for nearly every workout.

Nike

If you’re an expert at the gym, Nike is the place to go for outfits. This store has all your needs for every sport. They have the best high quality materials for durability, and a wide range of colors and styles for every taste. If you need clothes for rock climbing, tennis, or even rowing, Nike has what you need. Nike is also the best place for sneakers, stocking hundreds of different designers tailored to your gym needs. Definitely pick up a few bracelet accessories while you’re there to spice up your outfits.

Old Navy

This store is a haven for aerobic workouts. Their specialties are all about loose-fitting tops and bottoms perfect for movement. Their cotton capris are baggy enough for a comfortable workout, while still remaining form fitting. Their tops are great for muscle top transformations… if you’re into that kind of thing. These clothes are great for hip-hop, kickboxing, and step aerobics.

Zumba.com

Zumba is HCUCF’s favorite workout. Zumba attire is mainly yoga outfits with a splash of spunk thrown in. Go with bright colors and body fitting clothes. More fitting clothes will help your moves will look better and spicier! Zumba will also have you sweating within 20minutes of dancing so you might want to go for airy materials. The main Zumba website is definitely the go-to spot for outfits.

UCF Bookstore

If working out in cold weather, the bookstore is the place to go. They have a great selection of sweatshirts and thermal sweats that will keep you warm during those cold December nights. You can show your UCF pride, and also have a head start on that bikini body when spring rolls around.

Dressing for the gym doesn’t have to be a hassle. You should get excited to be getting fit and staying healthy. If you’re just starting working out, or are looking for a new workout alternative, stop by HCUCF’s Zumba party on Thursday!

Lululemon is a great site in the US too! I love that the site doesn't just focus on their clothes, but gives an awesome fitness education background for people just starting out. It has great advice on which fabrics are best suited for your workout, and good goal setting tips. It's awesome! :]

Great article! I also love

Great article! I also love Lululemon for workout clothes too, but I'm not sure if that's just a Canadian thing.
