Ugh, I’m not even half-way near my next class, and I’m already drenched in my own sweat. You all know what that means. It’s that time of year again that everyone here in Riverside, especially me, dreads — the summertime. Simple tasks like walking to class and staying on campus just got even harder in this 90-100 degree weather.
Now that it’s mid-spring, it’s time to show some skin and get your tan on for the summer. That doesn’t mean, however, that you need to invest in an entire new wardrobe. Spring styles work perfectly in the summertime, too! Whether you love or (absolutely, 100%) hate the heat, here’s a few styles prominent amongst UCR students that are suitable to rock till the end of summer!
1. Tank and Shorts
Jeans may still feel comfortable now that it’s mildly warm, but let’s be real here: no one wants to rip-off their pants from their sweaty legs after class. Shorts are your best friend in the summer and they’re extremely versatile, from denim, khaki, ro colors, and to prints. They can be paired perfectly with a tank top, for both guys and girls, too. Tanks for guys have been a growing trend amongst the male population on campus, and as girls we already know the styles of tank tops are limitless in the summer.
2. Footwear
Foot tans are unfortunately inevitable in the summer. Save yourself some space in the laundry by sticking to flip flops or sandals in this weather. They’re especially handy to slip on when you’re late to class!
3. Button ups
Button ups, button downs, whatever you may call them, they’re making a fashion statement here on campus more than ever. Most male button ups are made of breathable cotton, making them perfect for the warm weather. And for the girls, tying up the ends of your button ups never fails to give off a casual, but adorable addition to your outfit.
4. Accessories
Now that we’ve got the clothing portion covered, it’s on to the accessories. Hats are perfect for protecting your face from the harsh UV rays, but are also stylish additions to any outfit. The oh-so popular snapback trend amongst guys will definitely still be in for summer. While for the ladies, sun hats and fedoras are timeless hats to keep in your closets. (Fedoras look good on guys, too!) And whether you’re into the quirky, fashionista inspired lenses or the simple classic aviators and wayfarers, don’t forget to also protect your eyes this summer by sporting sunglasses.
