3 Ways to Celebrate Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arkansas chapter.

Valentine’s Day is the one day a year when single girls are made to feel like the odd ones out and forced to see our friends who are happily in a relationship post flower arrangements from “the best boyfriend ever” on instagram. This year take a note from Amy Poehler’s character on Parks and Recreation and celebrate Galentine’s Day.

Here are three easy ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day, just add wine.

1.) Movie MarathonAvoid the couples out on dates by spending Valentine’s Day in with your friends. Scary movies or comedies are ideal for this movie night. The Saw series or any movies with Seth Rogen are perfect for the ANTI-Valentine’s Day. Definitely avoid romantic comedies, dramas, and especially Nicholas Sparks movies. News flash, the men at the U of A are nothing like Ryan Gosling. So pop some popcorn, put on your comfy pants and watch some slasher films or laugh until your stomach hurts.

2.) #TreatYoselfWho would you rather spend money on Valentine’s Day than yourself? Get your single friends together and make Valentine’s Day all about doing what you want to do. Get your nails done, shop, eat ice cream, and stop by happy hour for margaritas. Be thankful you don’t have to dress up or spend money on a gift for a boy. TREAT YO’SELF.

3.) Grade School StyleWe all remember how much fun Valentine’s Day was in grade school. How could you forget the snacks and the scratch ‘N sniff Valentines cards? Invite your friends over and tell everybody to bring food. Exchange Valentines and play games. A great game for this night is to have each person write down the worst date they have been on or the most embarrassing thing to happen to them on a date. When everyone has written one down, go through the papers and try to guess which bad date belongs to which girl. Not only can this game be hilarious, but it will also make you happy that you are not on an awkward Valentines date.
